Another interesting link on the subject and I found the radius PXT rifling interesting too.

something new Peak alloy

While speaking with my nephew he told me of a new cartridge I did know of, 7 Backcountry. Federal developed it with a new steel alloy case,Peak Alloy, that is capable of 80,000 psi. in modern bolt action rifles. The case is reloadable. https://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/editorial/federal-new-7mm...

Re: Friends around a campfire…. Snowy Mountains high!

The photos of the area and having visited, make me a little envious. But, white snow or blue water and white Sand beaches? I sure hope to visit again soon. There is a real condition called Altitude Sickness, where your body doesn’t adapt to lower oxygen levels in the air. It can knock you on your b...

Re: I have a reloading question

If you have Varget, try Varget. A bird in hand beats two in the bush. Do you have a chronograph? A very old one! I haven't done a load work-up in years. I have my set recipes I worked up years ago, the last was with Varget for my 308. IMR 4350 works for my 280 and 6.5-06. I have IMR 4227 for my XP-...

Re: at a little prayer for me

Thanks for the prayers! My recovery is progressing well. I have very little pain now and haven't used pain meds since Friday morning. The anesthesiologist injected a long term nerve block that lasts up to five days, this is the fifth. If I could just get my bowels back to normal I would be hystatic.

Re: I love stores with mag bins

They have two mag bins and at least two holster boxes at my LGS. Every now and then I find something I want. They have two tables with used stuff and brass. I got a Lyman turret press for $50 a small bench grinder for $25 and countless other little diamonds.

Re: I have a reloading question

I used to be able to buy sample packs of powders , IIRC they were 4oz bottles. I don't shoot as much as I used to and don't want to spend $50 for a pound of powder I won't use. One powder that shows some promise that I have in stock is Varget...but. Just looking for someone with a little real world ...

I have a reloading question

I have decided to reload for my bolt action bullpup. I have an X-Caliber, 6 Arc,18 inch, 5R rifling, with a 7.5 twist barrel. I have had great success with Sierra Game King bullets and contacted them to find what the best bullet would be, its their #4100 6 90TGK. My problem is, though I can find loa...

Re: at a little prayer for me

Thanks guys! Im home, the ankle replacement well. I spent one night in the hospital and I'm glad I did. This hurts! This morning I was having a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale. The Oxycodone has settled that down and I will settle into a routine for a few days. I'll be off that stuff as soon as my pai...

Re: Say a little prayer for me

They are trying to make me the bionic man. I've had both knees replaced, four shoulder surgeries and now I'm having my left ankle replaced. I go for surgery tomorrow. I'll have a cast for three weeks and 8 weeks on crutches before I can begin PT. I should be recovered before archery and early goose...

Re: Finally might have a viable battery type

A friend in high school had a '65. He would occasionally have to get out and beat the shifter linkage with a hammer. I had the same problem with a 69 Chevelle! It was a 250 with a three on the tree. I miss that car! One day the limb broke off the tree. The part wasn't easy to find so I made it a th...

Have you ever swamped a truck?

At 69 years old I finally did it! I sank my 98 Chevy to the axles. I have been working in a strip mine re-claiming an abandoned hunting shed that was in dire need of repair. It's location is great and will serve our hunting party very well after repair, up-graders and brush removal for shooting lane...

Re: Finally might have a viable battery type

I appreciate this conversation. I have, for the last 15 years said,"if the operating cost of an EV is less than a gas vehicle, why haven't the EV companies been screaming it to the hill tops?" are they as stupid at marketing as Remington? Is the cost of the vehicle worth the expense? I liv...
