Re: New .357

Pure sacrilege. But, two dead pigs. Lever action origins: late 1850's, and tricking one out with optics, plastic furniture, or rail handguards on the modern production options is "sacrilege" Bolt action origins: at least as early as 1871; 1886 if you want to talk modern ammo, and nobody t...

Re: New .357

I like it! Forget the dot sight, get the peeps and a Blackhawk to go with it! The current sights need more contrast for my eyes, I want to try a dot on it, I have other stuff to put it on if it does not work out. That was my justification for the Marlin .357 SBL (Pic rail): I knew the iron sights o...

I've been saying "screw modernity" for years. Not sure that's the same as "embracing" it.

Re: Apparently the .270 can kill

This is just more evidence the round is good for women and children to use. We used to simply give 9mm's to the women and kids because it was an effective round they could handle. Now the grown-ass men are putting comps on their 9mms. Whatever this phenomenon is, perhaps the .270's arrive in the 19...

OK. . .they printed a picture of the correct cartridge on each ammo box. That's kinda cool.

At those distances you have to think mortar… 🤣 Hee! Having seen that myself with my Dad's .45-100 loads, I think it would have been fun to write the Quigley " He's been up there all day waiting for two idiots to line up in his sights " movie shot to hit a standing target first, followed b...

Pretty sure that wasn't what Tom Petty meant with those lyrics, but they fit!

Hope your duct-taping holds.

Re: No Good Deal Goes Unpunished (The 2011 Koolaid)

I've got about 500 rounds through the gun now, and it's definitely a soft shooter. Not one single malfunction with 7 different mags, both OEM and MBX, so also good. I won't get it on a timer until later this summer, so we shall see. I have a feeling that the XL in particular outlived its niche sinc...

AWWWWWW YEAAAAH!! Not any terminal testing. A 405 through the spine is pretty definitive. Yep. Note that I didn't ask about bullet recovery. Until you soften those bullets down into maybe the 10-11 BHN range, you won't likely see anything in terms of meaningful deformation with thos...

NICE! Kind of considering one of those in stainless. Not having handled one in a minute - QUESTION: Is the extractor rod long enough to kick a .357 case fully clear, or if not, how much is it short by? Not quite, but if you hit it sharply they clear. Thanks! I recently looked at a 3" 686 Plus ...

Re: No Good Deal Goes Unpunished (The 2011 Koolaid)

All the things I look for in an action sports gun are there, and overall I'm enjoying the gun, and pleased with the performance, but am not 100% sold on buying a case of the proverbial Koolaid quite yet. I'll be running my trusty Glock 34 in a USPSA match soon, then work will take me away from the ...

Keep the short trigger around. The only 1911 I own that I haven't installed one in is the one that was made in 1917; everything else gets the WW2, 1911-A1 treatment. Reason is, unless you have the long fingers of a 7'6" NBA center, there's not much chance of getting the pad of your finger situa...

My starter motor is electric. What more do these silly hippies want from me??? I'm at the point where I'd consider a decent gas/electric or diesel/electric hybrid, but I have no interest in a hit to cruising range if there's still a ludicrous charging time attached to that reduced range. Re: Shooting at Iran again

Trump panders to the gun community right before elections. Then he does nothing to benefit said community. We should have had free unregulated suppressors. I will believe it when I see it. I might adjust that statement a bit. Trump DID in fact give us a Supreme Court which SHOULD be swinging a pret...

Had to sight in my .300 with the thermal. So as a skill building exercise (that’s what he calls gay poop) the garden gnome hops on my back. All snuggly like. I wasn’t phased. He tried multiple things to get me to break my concentration. I was a stone! A marble statue. Until he said “does it thrust ...
