Re: Sooooooo, any 2026 New Year resolutions?

I spent last year getting divorced, selling the family home and nearly losing a parent to a stroke, then dealing with the health needs stemming from that. I'm more a case of "please, don't let it be worse than 2025". So far it's not been a great start  Only major goals are to do s...

Re: M 16 fan here

I believe folks wrapped around the axel about weight of the rifle are stuck in a combat context that is no longer applicable to the way fight or plan to fight future enemies… I'm definitely in this camp, and will admit my bias. I had run with Gene's number, 12 pounds kitted out seems a whole lot mo...

Re: M 16 fan here

To the degree that M855A1 is not as effective as it once was Damn, I'm honestly surprised, I would not have thought that bodyarmour would be considered that widely available to them in the future scenarios, Ukraine is probably skewing my perceptions, as it's not as though Russia's best and brightes...

Re: M 16 fan here

The new rifle is coming. It will provide us modern armor defeat capability. I personally know a handful of the people who tested it. Weight was discussed - at length. It will first be fielded to combat soldiers in select units. The initial order was 250K, for all five components. I guess that any a...

Re: Dads old Sears rifle.

I honestly don't recall if it was my early years in Colorado or Illinois but the Sears and the Wards for that matter, had nice long rectangular displays. Plenty to keep me busy while my mom shopped elsewhere in the store. We had a small Monkey Wards in our small town. Not many guns there but what p...

Nothing to add, apart from that I realise why we'll never put a man on the moon.

I literally just ran across Early over on the Campfire forum so he's still around but my 'status' (number of posts) doesn't allow me to PM him yet. I don't know if he knows about this forum or not but I'll invite him just the same. Thanks, I appreciate it. He had a unique take on things that I like...

Any slip joint fans?

I really like Case, and I just picked up a canoe pattern.

It sits in my fob pocket perfectly, and with no sharp corners I think it might become a favourite, just like the peanut.
It's also my first jigged bone knife, probably won't be the last.

Any other slip joint fans? post them up.

Re: Picked up a new escopeta

That’s a pretty cool find! If I may, what does a used “Rigby” Shotgun go for?😳😢 Not anything eye watering, I'm just an ordinary working man, making a very ordinary wage. This was $300USD, a bit more than a Wrangler, I now see. A lot of people see English shotguns and think dollar signs, but there a...

Not too bad, game loads are a little bit harder, but not bad. The local CAS crowd means that even the nearby chain sporting goods store normally carries a #7 trap load in 2 1/2".

Great find! I've always liked those 77/22's. I feel like Ruger was one of the few companies that did the "adult scale" .22 bolt gun well. Them and CZ. Makes me wonder why CZ ever discontinued the 452! Hell raise the price, just don’t disco it! Yeah, just about the only two companies I can...
