Re: Best all around cartridge
That’s all relative to purpose/location/technique. Agree but what would is the most useful these days? I’m not shooting p-dogs with an ‘06 not shooting Griz in AK with a 6.5 CM. But has the old school cartridges been supplanted by the new whiz-bang chamberings? For that matter, in shooting holes ( ...

Best all around cartridge
Ok Sense the demise and my sabbatical from the original gun forums, there have been significant developments in the world of hunting and target rifle cartridge… ie Creedmor, PRC, long and skinning bullets, short and fat cases, spooky fast twists stabilizing heavy for caliber bullet. Anyway, what car...

Night vision scopes for varmint hunting
Please educate me on the differences between thermal and other classes of night vision scopes. Not really concerned about budget, want quality, longevity, and best opportunity. Shooting mainly coyotes. No hogs in Indiana.

Re: Worst you've ever been scared while hunting?
There is a difference between scared and spooked. I’ve been scared twice in 50+ years of hunting. I’ve been spooked a few times. Spooked .. sometimes there are spirits out there that shadow you. Scared.. once I stepped onto an undercut bank while duck hunting….. went into water over my head. I actua...

Re: On purpose negligent discharge
I was scrolling through Bud’s website and came across a compensated G19 which reminded me of it. I really didn’t intend any names mentioned. It was funny though

On purpose negligent discharge
Ok I have an old and failing memory so help me out here. Did a member of the old forum.( who will remain nameless to protect the innocents) once purposely hold a Compensated G19 next to his bare belly wondering what would happen? I remember it got a lot of laughs. If the perpetrator is still on here...

Re: Hokc Knives
I looked at a few in a Russian store in Pensacola today. The Gentleman said it is a Russian design scales made in China, blade is D2 Steele. I liked how it felt in the hand, but know absolutely nothing about knives. I have a couple Kershaw and Spyderco knives and have made do with them. This knife ...

Re: I think I've figured out my retirement gig...for this week!
I just pulled the trigger and officially retired ( until some construction company throws a bunch of money at me ).
I’ve already got an interview with BassPro and sent my paperwork to reinstate my USCG license. Doubt I’ll be still for long.

A great singer, performer and a real American. Can’t listen to American Soldier without getting choked up, now it’ll be nearly impossible.
Godspeed Mr. Keith.

Might be a stupid question but will plated or jacketed bullets properly engrave the rifling to stabilize at that low velocity ? Is the rifling cut deep enough?

Re: Modifying the Pistol Grip on a Fiberglass/Synthetic Stock
Have you done one? Or seen anyone else do what he’s talking about? Curious as to how you know what it will look like. I haven’t done epoxy work on a stock but have done a lot of epoxy repair in the construction industry. It is a trade and art that you have to do every day. There is no fixing a scre...

Re: Modifying the Pistol Grip on a Fiberglass/Synthetic Stock
Honestly unless you just like monkeying around with it, you aren’t going to save any money by building up the existing stock. It’s gonna take multiple tries and will still wind up looking like poop. Re: Modifying the Pistol Grip on a Fiberglass/Synthetic Stock
Is talk to a boat repair shop or auto body shop. The best way would be to overbuild the area with multiple layers of “cloth” and resin, then sand to the desired size and shape.

I’d like to see a resurgence in interest in the Ruger number 1 and a host of chamberings.
