SHOT Show! What would you like to see this year?

Post by Zee »

SHOT Show is on, so I hear.
If you were King (or Queen), what would you have the Manufactures come out with this year?

Guns?
Mods?
Accessories?

Powder, primers and bullets all at reasonable prices and available.
Hell I’d settle for unique and RL7!

Bare undesignated bolt actions that didn’t cost more than a complete rifle.

I would like to see Henry expand their pump action line into some small centerfire offerings. 25-20, 32-20 would be a hoot.
I would love to see Ruger re introduce the GP100 in 10mm and the 3" barrel.

That.

I'd also like to see more specialty pistols.

With the uptick in backcountry hunting, I'm surprised specialty pistols haven't made a comeback.

I could see it, but, it needs to be a pistol. Not a butt less rifle. If it’s got a 16-18 inch or longer barrel, there’s no point to not have a stock.

Every few years a company launches one. Nosler, Remington, Savage, CVA…….
They just never seem to take off. Partly because they always charge too much being a low production run. Make them the same price or more as a rifle………
CVA seems to be the only one that’s sticking around as a constant. I suspect because they don’t cost much. Just wish they’d chamber one for .308 Win.

If Ruger did this based on the American Rifle with a sub $600 MSRP they'd sell a small boatload.

Edit: Okay that's what I want to see from SHOT that I won't. Economic grade specialty pistol in the .308 based rounds. Ruger American, CVA Cascade, etc

A Ruger PC Carbine in 10mm would be a home run. I love my 9mm.

You know, Uberti has made quite a business of cloning and copying American guns for well over 50’years now. People can’t buy them fast enough. There are no less that 3 major distributors here for the same company…. People keep buying 1800’s designed guns at decent prices! Their rifles at north of a grand and people buy them up. I defy you to find a 1866 in stock at a brick and mortar….. all this to say American gun companies are loosing sales to an ITALIAN company making AMERICAN guns. Seems fairly straightforward to me… but what do I know.

Gun wise, I’m not really looking for anything. I have more than I use as it is. Doing more guiding and less of the shooting during hunting these days. Passing on the fun. In light of that, folks are using my gear and equipment to do so. So, I’d like to update and expand the options.
I’m interested to see what comes out in the thermal realm as I’m looking to get one or two more this year. Also wanting to start upgrading and getting more chassis this year that don’t break the bank and do what I need.

Affordable thermal scope. Hell, even a tri-mode “day, night, thermal” scope for under $2k would be pretty awesome

A thermal or NV scope rated for 12ga recoil.
Not that I want to mount one on a 12ga, but comparing a 12ga sabot slug to my 50beo, both throw the same basic projectile at similar velocities.
The AR being lighter than most shotguns, the recoil impulse is faster for the 'wulf.

I doubt my current NV would survive and ATN told me as much when I asked. At the time, when I asked, they said they didn't have anything that would thrive on it. It might survive, for a while, but don't expect it to last long is basically what they told me.

Edited to add: Scratch that. Just called ATN and they've upped their ratings. Now they rate up to a 416 Barret, which should be MORE than enough to thrive on the 'wulf

Pulsar is rated for .375 H&H and 12ga slug.
