I tried it out.
Looks like another IC/IC gun.
Did get a surprise though
I didn't think it had ejectors
I opened it to pluck the shells
It does and they almost got me flying by.

I've Been finding out some about this one and it's not just a French tart.
Could have been for all I knew.
What's been found so far.
The gun was triple proofed by a renowned barrel maker.
What I thought was plastic is actually a horn butt plate.
I definitely lucked out with the two from that estate.
May have to go for 3

I have never even heard of horn being useful like that, horn from what critter?

Looks like made in St Etienne a French city famouf for their gunsmiths at the start of the last century

Definitely from St.Etienne.
Turned out to be a lot more gun than I'd have expected.
The J Gaucher was like a retailer and seemed to deal in various grades of guns.
That name as towd man said is still in use today.
