Send them this way. It’d take a minute to design and cut the jig but after that you could easily run probably 40 at a time. The run time per blade depending on what all you did would be around 3min I’d guess.

If this just for paper punching a .36 or .45 will put a big smile on your face with very little lead and powder.

I’ll keep it in mind. You can set it to just take a fizz off the powder coat, correct? I wouldn’t want to but all the way through.
But lasering on the grips….

Yeah I was thinking about it last night after Wambli mentioned it and that makes sense. I could also squirrel hunt with it if I ever decided to do that again. I got to looking at cap locks last night and then realized that I need to just make my own or else it's just a rifle kit in the end. And I'm only seeing 45 and 50 caliber muzzleloader blanks on GM.

Was Woodsrunner's ML a 32 or 36 caliber?
It sure was fun to shoot. He didn't make me feel dumb for knowing nothing about BP and MLs. Just told me what and showed me how to do it. I was amazed at how accurate his rifles were. And I will never forget Buffy's smoke ring

With your skills and equipment making your own from scratch should be an easy project. Old time dudes made these damn things out of worn out horseshoes and dull rasps…

I may get some hate for this, but this has to be the ugliest revolver of the time. The body lines are horrendous. It looks like an aardvark. But I just bought an Uberti 1849 colt pocket pistol, because why not?

I believe those are 1851's which are pretty nice looking. That's the big brother of the 1849 that I just bought. They have nice body lines. Ah la, no aardvark.

I'm a night owl AND insomnia sucks but this is when my gears get turning. Since I'm doing paper cartridges anyways, I'm considering my muzzleloader build to be a breech loader with a bolt action that seals the chamber with two tapers. Still have a side lock hammer and the percussion nipple sitting midway on the charge. Thoughts?

Pretty sure the nipple hole needs to be at the end of the charge. So it doesn’t ignite “two” directions.

Sharps made a rifle that used a paper cartridge. The pertinent thing here is that the cap was at the end of the cartridge.

I know the nippl location sounds weird but I have a theory about the burn properties if I do it that way, solely based on what I know about rocket fuels that are chlorate based and burn from the opposite end of the motor. I think it would burn more efficiently but I could be totally off base. Either way, that'll require more research.

Elmer Keith experimented with screwing a tube into the flashole of some rifle cartridge I believe.
He opined that we were lighting the charge from the wrong end.
IIRC he got better velocity compared to a standard case but not enough to be worth the trouble.

That’s true. His thought was that burning powder should push the unburnt propellant back into the case for 100% burn as opposed to out the muzzle. He was not the only guy that tried it IIRC but they all found out that reloading the cases was a HUGE PIA for very little benefit.

Look at the original Sharps breechloading design. Closing the breech with the lever cuts the back of the paper cartridge and It’s an elegant and simple design. I’ll bet you could make that action in one weekend….
