Reloading problem!!

So I'm catching upon my reloading and start to resize some once fired PPU .30-06 brass. The die goes down to the web and gets stuck, won't go farther and I don't want to get the case stuck. You can see the shiny ring where it stops. It was fired in a Johnson Automatic rifle. The case as is partially resized will not chamber in my 03-A3 Since it is only 3006 I'm inclined to trash all the brass!

AL’s Johnson is indeed over size.

Unsized the web is .007 over a resized case.

It's my BIL's Johnson, he was just generous enough to loan it out!! AND he has two of them!!

Some of this is obvious but…

Check for any obstructions or rust inside the die?
Work hardening of the brass (maybe anneal?).
Sometimes too much lube on the case will cause that too.

I had the same problem with some Hornady brand new brass in 45-70. Turns out I tried to size without letting the spray lube dry sufficiently. Waited an hour and all cases went through.

I’d clean the cases first, re lube and try again. If the problem is still happening after that with just with those cases I’d trash them is the issue persists.

Die is clean and I used Unique paste lube, also lubed the inside of the neck with dry powder lube. I found spray lube works best with straight cases but not so good with bottleneck!
I just resized some factory Winchester case with the same dies, no problem.

I may try annealing a few and see if that helps!

IME with PPU brass, it's been rather soft. Being soft, it expanded more, lube it good and mash on the handle

Personally, I'd trash it before risking my dies. It not like 30-06 brass is hard to come by.

After further review, my conclusion is that PPU brass is not worth the effort to reload. I've had the same issues with PPU brass in .303 Savage and .30-30. If you get them resized, the rim will not fit the primer tool shell holder. Into the trash they went!!

As an aside
I've found the PPU to be among the best for 22 hornet cases.
