.35 Winchester!

Post by Big Al1 »

I never heard of it either, until I found one at a gun show. Turns out it's a necked up .30-40 Krag. It's an 1895 Winchester made in1903, the same year the .35 came out. It came with the very rare #21 Lyman sight. I've loaded 200 grain RN's and 250 grain SP's so far and they both shoot great and almost to the same POI!! 2450 and 2350 FPS respectively!! The .30-40 was also necked up the make the .38-72 and the infamous .405!! Also chambered in the 1895.

Now THAT's cool. Always had a soft spot for the 1895.

I passed on a ‘95 in 30-06 at a good price because I really didn’t want another gun chambered in that round. That was one of my most foolish moments that I still regret.

Dang that is sweet! an 1895 has always been a bucket list gun, had my sights set on 405Win but shying away from thumpers these days. Love EC's 30-06 I could see myself with one of those someday.

I've got one in .30 Army, also. Made in 1900. This one was made in 1903.
