Help with optic for Sig 556 Classic

Post by jkp »

I've got an old Sig 556 Classic set up with a Leupold Mark AR scope. It's a great shooter but I have other similar rifles with scopes that I would pick up before the Sig.

So, I'm thinking a red dot of some sort would get more action. The front hooded sight has been removed so it's not in play.

Primary Arms SLX 1x looks promising (yes, a scope). I want something on the smaller side - I.e. not Holosun 510C size. Also not looking to spend Eotech $.

Thoughts?

I have a couple of these. Not bad for the price.

That looks pretty good. Compact, long battery life, Vortex warranty...

The “like new” models mean they were “display” at their store. I’ve bought several like new and they package them back up and they look brand new. Same warranty.

Holosun AEMS.

Aimpoint PRO. Would look right at home on a Euro rifle.
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

What's your budget?

I have a SLX-1 and am pretty happy with it. Plus, having an astigmatism, the etched reticle is nice for me.

Bigslug makes a pretty good point that a Swedish optic would probably look right at home on the Swiss rifle, and an Aimpoint PRO (just a modern day marketing of the old Comp M2) would be a great choice if it was in your budget.

I'm leaning towards the Vortex Zee recommended or an Sig Romeo 5. Aimpoint would be nice but this is just a banging around gun...
