Re: Wagner Group vs. Russia
And for what it’s worth, I think Varm is mostly right. Except, Putin knows the idea of a Soviet republic is out of reach. But, he does want Russia to be the European Hegemony - A Russian Empire. I also don’t believe he wants all of Ukraine. Just part.
Putin is doing his work holistically too. The education reforms Russia has made and implemented over the past 6-8 years is putting them on the front edge of primary education. Moscow is just shy of being a digital city for E-schooling. They are exporting education like. They did in the 80s. Digital access education to poorer countries that can offer Russia strategic advantage.

Pretty interesting discussion on Russia. It reminded me of some of the issues in the Middle East... they don't think like us, and that keeps us from understanding them.

I was with 1/10 SFG in Bosnia with a comms team. We were inspecting a weapons depot to ensure the Serbs weren’t stealing munitions to start a round 2. It was part of the accord.
I’m following the Team Leader around with the radios, at one point he turns to me and says “ You know, democracy is great, but sometimes you just need a Tito”
It was not until many years later I fully understood that comment. US Solutions are not World Solutions.
As the Captain told the camp : What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach…
Outside of the remaining thumbprints of being subjected to the British Empire, there is a reason the British bicameral parliament model is far more common in the world than the bicameral mode we use. There is also a reason that of all the revolutions that occurred between 1760 and 1860, ours was the only one that came out in favor of the people. Our solutions work for us, and us alone.

I see your point. I would also say that of the foreign mentalities, the one that's closest to us is definitely British, but if you examine each of the major powers, they are all vastly different.
Don't get me started on the inaccuracy of the term "Judeo-Christian values." They're American cultural Christianity.

US and European news are in lockstep and with zero credibility. The logic now becomes this is what is not. Varmintist make excellent points.
Re: Wagner Group vs. Russia
Isn't it ODD that this "plane crash" occurs EXACTLY 2 months after the failed coup attempt?
I have a feeling Putin took offense.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/te ... 023-08-23/MOSCOW, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Russia's most powerful mercenary Yevgeny Prigozhin was on board a plane which crashed on Wednesday evening north of Moscow with no survivors, the Russian authorities said, two months to the day after he led an abortive mutiny against the army top brass.

True. It’s better to not end up like Antoine Rockamora.

Re: Wagner Group vs. Russia
I think there is a bigger question at hand with the decapitation of the Wagner group. Wagner has their hands in a few hot spots around the world.
Africa and Syria are two of those spots. How is that going to shake out? In Syria, it may be an easier answer - they fall into the Russian Military fold. But, what happens in Africa? There is prime opportunities for them to carve out their own little kingdoms, and support Chinese interest in the continent.
