Does anyone hunt geese?

A couple of the hunters I’ve taken for pigs are avid waterfowl hunters. I might his them up for taking me duck/goose hunting as a trade.

I’ll give you a Canadian goose in a few weeks.

Was an avid waterfowl hunter for years...and have shot a lot of geese...as far as tablefare...geese suffer from the same problem as most waterfowl...people just don't know how to cook them...overcooking renders a plate of tough, livery meat...undercooked fowl is just gross...there's a sweet spot that when you hit it produces delectable meat...I like it with a plum sauce or apple cranberry chutney...

I didn’t get the first one right and I didn’t go back. I had better results with ducks. Teal was the favorite. Teal season was early September so it wasn’t cold.

We hunt them all winter long here. There’s nothing like a big Canada goose cupped up and dropping into decoys. They love the winter wheat fields here. We hunt them out of layout blinds. We mostly get Canada geese but the snow goose population has grown steadily for the last 5yrs or so. I make all the ones we shoot into either jerky or snack sticks.

A photograph taken just last week. I was working around the lake and the cheeky devils just followed me and the dogs around sometimes coming within less than 20 yards. How do they know the season closing date?
