Sources for Bulk Ammo?

What is everyone's favorite spots to find good priced bulk ammo these days? I'm mainly interested in the usual 9mm and .223, but if there are some good place to find bulk M1 safe .30-06, .45 ACP, or even hunting ammo in relatively bulk quantities like 7mm08 I would be interested.

I've kind of run the gambit in the past with Target Sports USA, Fenix Ammunition, and many others. Where have y'all had good luck lately?

To me it’s all targets of opportunity. I just buy from the cheapest TODAY when I need it or the deal is too good to pass up. It could be an email from one of my usual providers or BPS having a sale.

Last ammo I bought was from PSA with free shipping, I keep seeing an acceptable (not great) price at various sights but get bent over with the shipping and the tax added on, it is hard to get used to the current prices per round.

I'm with Breamfisher on the ammo question. Start handloading to have a reliable source of ammo. When I'm at the range I'm always amazed at the amount of misfires I find in 9mm and .223. Usually after a gun show when folks have bought "cheap" ammo.
I've been handloading since I was 18. I've been scrounging brass since then. Now days as the cost of components has gone through the roof it's less cost-effective to handload, but to me, it's just as satisfying as ever.
Japhy mentioned Walmart for Federal Auto Match ammo. I totally agree. The Auto Match ammo is fine 22LR.

I hand load most rifle cartridges but have zero patience or desire to load 9mm, .40, .45, etc.

Ammoseek.com is a search engine that shows ammo and reloading stuff. It shows you who's got what and for how much. A friend of mine is wanting to get into reloading from scratch and the cost of components is so high that unless you cast your own bullets, you won't save very much. Even then, you'll only save a few pennies per round.

My response about casting and handloading was sarcastic. I wonder if Shotgunshooter has the room for all the gear.

Anyway, my other problem with reloading is that it's less cheap than it used to be. Bullet prices have gone up, as has powder. At least around here. By the time I pay for shipping, I'm at nearly local prices.

I view handloading as a pastime. It gives me a reliable source of ammo that is immune from the Clinton-Obama-Biden roadblocks of the status quo.
If you organize your procedures, it becomes less of a chore. Once you have the brass, the cost is manageable.

On occasional runs to a metal recycle yard I see lines of 5 gal buckets of 5.56 brass that looks very clean. It sells for the brass scrap rate + a little.

I don’t reload but range friends do. Most no longer reload 45 but still load .38, .357, .44 and other revolver fodder.

Handloading for me is not a large scale venture at the moment, and I don't see it becoming so for years to come. Thanks to my father and some generous forum members I am pretty well set up with the basic stuff, but my interest in handloading is to save money over factory premium hunting and target ammo. For the bulk stuff, for the time being I'm willing to pay a bit extra to save the time.

When you've moved as many times as I have in the last decade, holding on to that stuff for "someday" gets less and less interesting. I think I've got Enzo beat by a wide margin... with more to come.

Oh I don’t know about that. Quick count in my head, wife and I have 20 moves and 24 addresses (and I’m sure I’ve forgotten one or two) since we married 28 years ago…. Still have one or two left in me

But I agree with you it doesn’t pay to cart around a bunch of common brass like 9mm. BUT, I’m stupid and apparently I do. I just found two 5 Gallon tubs of tumbled clean .45 ACP once fired brass and I don’t even reload that stuff…

I find bulk loading tedious AF. I just popped the primers and sized over 500 38 SPL cases to put them in the tumbler, and once I load these I’ll probably never do it again. But just bought 200 brand new cases of .44 SPL brass and loading those won’t bother me at all and I do enjoy reloading .45 Colt because it’s just expensive to buy either one new. I won’t touch 9mm or .223/5.56.

My son in law has 2 1050s just sitting in his garage. They just bought a new house and I’ll be helping him set up his “gun room” which will house his firearms and some of his reloading equipment.

Maybe when I can just sit and load some hoopers and pop a switch I’ll be moved to do the bulk thing. That’s the main reason I keep dragging the brass around. He also has two commercial casting machines and a HUGE smelter I posted pictures of somewhere here. He used to own an ammo company and all the equipment is still in storage.

But for now, I’m just doing my thing on a single stage Rock Chukker and long stretches at the lever are boring.
