Adjustable gas block

Who has use them and what brand do you recommend? Specifically, I want one that I can shut the gas off completely for whisper pickle purposes.
I will desire one for 300 blackout as well as 223 , if there is any difference

I prefer Superlative Arms
You can go "RESTRICTION", or "BLOW-BY" and the click adjustments make it quite simple to go in "x" clicks to shut off the gas for the "whisper pickles" then open it back up the same number of clicks to have it right back where you had it.

There is no difference between one for 223/556 and 300BO. Only difference is the size barrels they fit

Do you need a tool to adjust it?
That seems…inconvenient.

You're going to need an allen wrench to change MOST of them. I like the Superlative arrangement better than the one I have where you have to remove (and NOT lose) the set screw to then adjust the actual gas block screw, then put the set screw back on top of the adjustment screw.
That one, a well known brand, is still in the package. I saw the adjustment directions and thought HELL NAAA

Just checked Midway, 11 of the first 12 adjustable blocks require an allen wrench. The "Seekins Precision Select" seems to be the only one that doesn't

Since they will be under the hand guard, I suppose it stands to reason.
My hare brained thought was if I wanted it as quiet as possible, I’d flip the switch. Maybe not.

With your mad skills, you should make one. If you can't handle milling an adjustable gas block, you can always mill an opening in the handguard to be able to finger adjust it

OR

make an "adjuster" that's secured into the allen head and protrudes to just past the end of the handguard so you have a switch to flip

The old Ruger SR556 adjusts with a cartridge or similar. Maybe that can be replicated? Of course that's a piston design.

Now that you post this, THATS what I was thinking off. A buddy had one of those. Quite possibly the worst AR trigger I’ve ever felt.

Yep, the one I replaced wasn't good.

I have an Aero, and a couple Seekins.
Aero is much better. It has detents. It comes with a really long allen wrench, you can adjust it without removing the handguard. If you remember to bring the wrench.

With as many protuberances as the common modern AR has, a little T-handle sticking out should be no big deal.

A question worth asking: Are these adjustable blocks something that needs to be cycled through their range of adjustment periodically, just to knock carbon loose and keep them from fusing, or do they play well with the maintenance-disinclined?
