Bullseye vs action type shooting

Thought it was pretty cool. I never thought about how the bullseye targets corresponded to the silhouette side. Main difference being if you are just hitting black in bullseye, you arent doing much and action type stuff is faster, at least overall.

Shot some semi formal service pistol matches. I never knew the B8 and IDPA were the same center. Is IDPA shot at 50yds because that can be a female dog on a shaky day?

Good video - really makes the point.

I think the whole Bullseye vs. Silhouette thing can be boiled down to what you're trying to accomplish.

A bullseye target can be a very humbling thing because even an X-ring hit a quarter inch off perfectly pinwheeling it proclaims that "YOU SUCK!" by that quarter inch. Guys who live in a competitive shooting mindset understand this, are there to play for perfection, and it doesn't get inside their heads.

If you put someone who you're merely trying to turn into a semi-competent defensive shooter on a Bullseye course, ESPECIALLY against guys who do it for fortune and glory, they'll leave the range with about as much confidence as a penguin faced with the prospect of marching across the Sahara in August.

A silhouette will still tell you "YOU SUCK!", but it gives the base practitioner who DOESN'T live in a world of X-counts and classification rankings a statement of "YOU SUCK!" within the context of their ability to take care of business. It's simply an easier way to spell it out.
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.
