New carry gun prospect
I have been looking for a new carry gun because I think I want an optic and I will probably drop to 9mm. There are lots of choices out there but I hadn't found one that talked to me yet. While I was at my lgs he showed me a shadow 2 compact. It appeals to me in several ways but still thinking about it. Has anybody here handled one or shot one? I was surprised that it was as light as it is being all metal. Most of the utube reviews were good for what that's worth.

Not familiar with it, sorry

Re: New carry gun prospect
I really like CZ products. The shadow 2 has it roots in the CZ 75, think European 1911, what’s not to love. That said I don’t own any of their pistols…. May have to change that.
Re: New carry gun prospect
Do yourself a favor and look at a Glock 48 MOS as well.
Re: New carry gun prospect
No doubt it is a good gun. Some will have a hang up with it being double action single action without a decoder.
If you carry it cocked and locked it's no issue. For me it is a bit big and heavy for concealed carry, but would be a fine house gun.

I vote 43X.
That extra .75 of the 48 just pokes in your pants farther.

I LOVE the Shadow, the full size. Along with the plain Jane CZ75. Finest 9mm around.
If you aren’t in too big a hurry and have a spare couch, I may ride my motor sickle out west and you can shoot my 43.

You are welcome to come anytime but it won't be a glock, no I don't hate them but I don't like them either. Also you have to remember I am a fudd, my carry gun has to have a safety. I have a shadow 2 that I really like which is one reason I was looking at the compact. They are similar but different at the same time.
Re: New carry gun prospect
Not what I carry (don't like 9s), but take a look at a Sig P365 Legion...

The CZ-75 series has almost, but never quite happened for me several times. Nice guns, but they just don't quite make it over the line for me. Lately, the thinking against it has gone pretty much like this:Kansashunter wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 4:14 am You are welcome to come anytime but it won't be a glock, no I don't hate them but I don't like them either. 1. I'm all about end-user serviceability. The CZ's have all the internal complexity of just about any of the DA/SA automatics, and it would be carried cocked and locked anyway, so why mess with all the extra springs and levers when you can just run a much simpler 1911-based platform (Staccato, Springfield Prodigy, Stealth Arms Platypus, Commander-based single stacks, etc...)?
2. Practically speaking, $500 Glocks are answering almost all my questions, and a J-frame S&W answers those they don't.
WWJMBD?

If you don't mind the price of entry, the Shadow 2 Compact may serve you well. It's just a compact version of CZ's off-the-shelf match gun.
If you're CZ curious but don't want to carry a $1200 pistol, check out the P09. *****
Edit- I was wrong, the P07 is the compact, and it's not available optics ready from the factory so you would have to factor in milling to the purchase price.

Re: New carry gun prospect
I'm a terrible pistol shot. I need all the ammo I can get so I go for high capacity. I was gonna recommend a glock, but...

If i am looking at plastic the equalizer is what I would consider. The main reason I am looking at the cz is I shoot my shadow 2 better than most things I have, but it is 12oz. heavier and is single action only so it is not really a fair comparison. I can shoot a 1911 ok and I bought a compact sig 1911 that I really like but I can't get to where I shoot it worth a darn. I am a little concerned this might be the same way. The stacatto would be nice but over my budget. I am in no hurry but just was looking for imput.

Re: New carry gun prospect
Sounds like the Shadow 2 Compact OR is just the ticket then.

I am a HUGE CZ fan. If the Shadow Compact works for you- then get it. Its an awesome gun.

A week ago I tried out a Springfield XD in .45. Not bad but I want to test more candidates. also looking for a carry. The criteria is .45, 3 1/2 to 4in barrel, irons, long enough grip for a gorilla, and under $750.
Re: New carry gun prospect
I have no problem concealing a Springfield government 1911 any time of the year, and I don't need gazillion round magazines to stop multiple threats under extreme stress...
BTW, mine is inexpensively modified with a 5 lb. trigger and tritium sights.
