It finally happened

Post by Rugerfan »

So I walked in the LGS. Owner asks what I’m up to. I say I’m just looking at what he’s got that I can’t afford.

He immediately reaches in a display case and pulls out a blued Ruger Security Six. 4” barrel. Aw crap!!! And yes I did. It even came with a holster. I’ve been looking for one of these for a few years now but prices had gone higher than I wanted to pay. $475 otd.

The name on the holster is hard to make out. I think it says Brauer Bros. St. Louis.

And no, I did not buy the PSA Dagger I was thinking about earlier this month. Life happened.

Nice pick-up! I love my 6" version. I have a cop holster that I love for hunting. With my shoulder it would be hard to get off my hip.

Great gun and yes the holster is a Brauer Bros. A true classic just like the Ruger. Give it a really good conditioning. The black leather ones were prone to cracking if the leather.

Yeah those security sixes are great guns!! Oh by the way you have a “high back” early version. They tend to be a bit more difficult to find replacement grips for.. This one was my dad’s service revolver when he was a Deputy in Wyoming, with El Paso saddlery holster bought with it.

You suck!!! GREAT REVOLVER!

I appreciate all of your comments.

I had basically given up hope of ever getting one. They just don’t show up around here. And they ain’t cheap when they do.

It’s probably considered sacrilegious but I kinda like those grips.

I use neatsfoot oil.

Not sure what a neat is, or why it’s foot oil is used for leather, but there ya go.

An El Paso saddlery offering is probably one of the best!

Neatsfoot oil will break your leather apart. It will degrade your leather to the point of crumbling, eventually. Fiebings saddle oil with lanolin is the best oil to use on leather.

Interesting. Never knew that.

Here’s more worthless trivia!

But that’s the cool thing about kydex . It doesn’t rot. 😬

NICE!

Always wanted a Speed or Security Six. Everytime I have money, I cant find one, and when I'm broke they all show up for decent deals.
