The election is near...

Post by Gila »

This is just a reminder to vote. Remember that anyone who doesn't vote, doesn't have anything to complain about; period, even when they come to take their weapons if the wrong politicians get the nod...

The smart voter will wait for the REALLY important election before they vote.
And they will brag about it so you'll know that they are the truly smart ones.

Statistically speaking, my vote or lack thereof for POTUS won’t matter in Missouri.

Likewise... Only 2 elections in my lifetime have not been Republican. 1 Democrat and the "independant" was a beloved governor at the time, who got shot and parlyzed on the campaign tour.

I agree that certain individual votes don’t make that much of a difference in a presidential election as far as electoral votes. Where they make a difference is in perception from the other side since Democrats have been touting the 80,000,000 popular votes pudding head got in the last election as they push for abolishing the electoral college.

It also counts towards “mandate”, meaning that a particular candidate was sent to the White House to do the will of the majority if the populations.

But hey everyone just follows their own conscience.

Our votes don't count. Voting gives the illusion of freedom.

Kinda like the Supreme Court (both number of justices and justices having a lifetime appointment,) Patriot Act provisions, and several other things in government.

It all depends on whose ox is getting gored.

Now, the states could change how they're allocating electoral votes, say each elector goes by what their district did, or apportion electoral votes according to the proportions each candidate got for that state, rounded up or down based on total electors, but that's up to the state. Right now all but two are winner take all on electoral votes.

Not gonna happen, because the party in control of the state legislature won't want to give a single vote to their opponents, but it would allow Republicans in California, or Democrats in Texas to have some voice in a national election.

My vote will matter not. Trump will easily take my state. I damn sure don't want to give him a mandate.
