That is pretty cool.

But man, I fear widespread adoption of flying cars. Just watching how people drive on the ground makes me imagine flaming debris falling from the sky at random times as karen tries to juggle a starbucks cup, a phone, and the controls all at once.

You don't need to look at how they drive cars.

Just go to Mega-Lo-Mart and watch how they drive their carts.

Looks like a neat concept, but I don't know how I feel about operating something with pitch change links the size of #2 pencils...

As far as flying cars in general, I think we will see *mostly* reliable autonomous self driving long before flying vehicles... and I can only assume flying vehicles will mainly be public transportation.

If they made flying cars that still relied on propeller propulsion, can you imagine how loud it would always be, everywhere?

This is 100% on the money. Today these concepts are looked at as an extension of General Aviation. and by the way you can get a "flying car" today, it's called a helicopter and many use them for commuting, though they are the domain of the rich for now.

True aerial human transportation will come fully automated and like all modes of transportation it will be based on your ability to pay, from "group" commuting devices to personal units. It will be statistically way safer and more efficient that cars because we have a lot more atmosphere than roads, but it will work just like the drone swarm displays you see at all major events nowadays except on a massive scale. Vehicles will be controlled as a collective consciousness where every vehicle knows the location of the rest of them and everything is centrally controlled with anti-collision protocols in place.

BTW not much different from General Aviation today. The electronics in a small private engine today are amazing compared to just a few decades ago. Flying with my daughter she can keep track of every aircraft around her on this very nice Garmin screen and the anti-collision system will call out if there is any danger so she can act accordingly. The future just takes out the slow and unreliable private pilot out of the equation.

Cool!
But real flying requires both hands, both feet, eyes on instruments or out the window at all times. Dependence on automated technology is dangerous.

Depends at what level. The higher you go in the food chain in experience, equipment and number of souls you are responsible for the more you end up depending on technology.

Yep, has an "antique vehicle" tag on it. I've ridden in it for 2 or 3 veteran's day parades

I had a coworker in Florida who bought, restored, and flipped 2.5 ton trucks. Definitely street legal. He had plates and everything.
