AR budget build, aka the Trash Panda.

Post by Elk Creek »

I was watching a YouTube video the other day and the host called budget builds “garbage tier rifles.” And it got me thinking that I should buy close out, daily deals and clearance parts…. To build the “Trash Panda.” I was off to a great start with the Double Star ARFX stock for 45 bucks! The Rise 140 3.5# trigger at $80 was the most expensive part into it… stock 45, Anderson lower parts kit, 20 grip, midway AR stoner billet upper w/handguard was $70! Barrel was the $45 bargain barrel 1:7 twist mid length (it looks amazing by the way), strike industries Warhog break 20 bucks, I found a $54 bolt milspec BCG! I did buy a first quality mid length gas tube…. Safety first!🤣
Anyway it was a fun project. I can’t wait to shoot it!

Without further a-due: The Trash Panda garbage tier gun….🤣

Looks nice. Like the simplicity.

Oh the dust cover is a Rock River! I got it cheap as it didn’t have the “C” clip…. This upper doesn’t need the C clip!🤣

I really like that rifle! Simple, clean, uncluttered and cheap. My bet is it will shoot well.

It really is amazing what you can piece together when you just are patient…… I’m not that patient though….🤣

Yeah that’s usually how it works…🤣
A friend has a Sons of Liberty build that used all their parts….. he liked the weight of mine….. tipping the scales at 6.7 pounds as pictured compared to his 9.4 carbine with all the dodads, (optic, magnifier, light) we shall see …

Not every rifle needs to be sub-MOA.

Heck, most "sniper rifles" up until Vietnam or so weren't sub-MOA. But they worked.

These are the last two I put together...I usually wait until Palmetto or Bear Creek has an interesting upper on sale, then start gathering pieces parts....Optics are generally the most expensive part...
As an afterthought, I decided that the BUIS are completely superfluous on this one...
