Finally, an AR concept I can buy into!
My nephew sent me a link to this company and told me there is a straight pull manually operated AR that weighs just over 3 lbs without a scope. Intrigued, I looked it up on U-tube. Damn! Though it is only offered in 300 BO and 300 Legend I'm interested. What a great woods gun! This is an AR I could consider.

Saw those a few years back, right during the coof. Of course EVERYTHING was out of stock. But I got enough parts to build one.

You got a good doe with a new toy and you're not smiling? Really!
Re: Finally, an AR concept I can buy into!
OK. . .I have concerns.
Being AR-based, I'm assuming this thing is largely comprised of parts that were designed to be unlocked and cycled under the force of about 20,000 PSI of gas port pressure.
The typical bolt action is designed with the limitations of human muscle in mind to provide sufficient force to cam out a sticky case.
Having had to kick or hammer a number of charging handles on malfunctioned autoloaders to get them open for the simple fact that they weren't designed to cycle out a fired case manually, I find myself asking "Why T.F. would you do this?"
If they're doing something to address this, please enlighten me.

Anytime I try and smile for pics I always end up looking stupid, so I save myself the trouble.
The instant I saw the Solo 300, I whipped out the plastic and was going to order one. Literally. I saw it on Instagram, grabbed my wallet as I was searching for their website. Why?
Besides it’s kinda goofy and unique, it is allowed in the “alternative methods “ portion of deer season here. Which, is either muzzle loaders or handguns. They were out of stock, and up until recently they really haven’t been able to keep up with orders. Anyway, got some parts and made my
own. I “saved” maybe $25 doing it myself. Wasn’t worth the hassle, but, it was hassle or not have one.

Keep it clean and don’t use loads that cause cases to stick.Bigslug wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 2:25 pm OK. . .I have concerns.

Easy peasy.

I would imagine that since gas isn't coming back into the action and bringing debris, you're probably keeping it cleaner.

The only thing I've ever had against AR pistols is that stupid, heavy buffer tube and spring. I like that.
Re: Finally, an AR concept I can buy into!
Does the .223 not make sense because it's a relatively high pressure, light bullet cartridge that gets nastier as the bbl gets shorter?
Re: Finally, an AR concept I can buy into!
Yep.
Same as any style of AR with a short barrel

Huh...more than I knew about the BO.
Other than diameter, sounds like .45 GI Ball ballistics. (Which no one wants to be on the receiving end.)

That’s the farting around cast bullet load. My deer load is a 110 grain Barnes at 2100ish.

I built one at the same time as CPJ with a Bear Creek upper. It is really awesome with subsonic loads and a suppressor
Let me see if I can find a pic

That is what I was thinking! 20 inch Creedmoor in a synthetic lower with a 2x7 scope at 4 lbs, would be a perfect multi purpose utility rifle. what a joy to carry. In addition with an adjustablle stock it would be perfect for the young'uns!
