65 yards, Savage Axis II in 6.5 CM. Shot him just behind the shoulder right at the beginning of legal shooting light. The deer was quartering away and just about to run. Bullet blew through both lungs, the liver was jellied, and there was damage to the bottom of the spine- it looked like the bullet may have fragmented.

Deer hit the ground, and tried to get up for maybe 20 seconds and stopped moving.

The round was the Winchester “Deer Season XP” 125 grain.

Not sure I’m a huge fan of the bullet fragmenting like that, but it worked

That'll work, I prefer 2 holes, but anchored on the spot is good.

There was an exit hole, but I guess that was just the core of the bullet. Again, can’t complain with the bang-flop, it was just off results inside the chest

My buddy’s daughter got her first kill last night- the huge white pig I’ve seen in my camera (and posted in the game cam pic thread. Probably around 250lbs, and just a beast. Shot a bit far back with a Ruger American .308 (don’t know the load), and it ran about 150 yards into some of the nastiest brush on the property, made it across the fence line through brute force, then piled up. They are gonna euro mount the head.

This morning the weather turned windy and cool. Nothing is moving, and we are all:

We don’t have a scale, 3 guys got the dressed deer in the 4 wheeler trailer on the count of three pretty easy, had to stop to catch our breath one time on the drag

Surprised it didn't exit, but it looks like it performed well. We almost never recover bullets in the tiny deer around here

He actually took 2 shots, both entrance wounds were virtually identical, there was one exit and one stuck between the ribs, first shot was 15-20 yds since he was chasing a doe

A slightly modified welding clamp makes a great skinning tool what for grabbing hold of the skin. Once connected, crank the winch.

Being lazy and not really wanting to shoot a deer until tomorrow in case the kids get one this evening. Because they are taking it to CPJ’s Custom Meats. I don’t want to overwhelm the butcher with another deer. So, I made the 22 yard trek from the camper and set up. In all seriousness, this isn’t a bad spot. I run them out driving down the road all the time.
Also enjoyed a little afternoon siesta on my Blackhawk shooting mat. 🤣
