Walked in my LGS. The owner hands me a rifle: Hopkins & Allen Junior Model 922. I’m assuming it’s 22lr. The barrel isn’t engraved with the caliber. I just shot 5 22lr through it to function test it. Shot better than I anticipated. It does need a butt plate. It’s got a hair trigger. $175 otd. This is probably the closest I’ll ever come to a Stevens Crackshot or Favorite.

Those Hopkins 22 are great! They have a sliding breach rather than the coming action breech as the Stevens. C sharp arms did a remake of them a few years ago. It being a take down you could have other barrels made for it too!!!

I didn’t know it was a take down. Haven’t had time to do any research yet. Is that what the “swivel “ stud underneath is for?

And yes it’s a takedown. That’s what the little ring in the bottom is for. Unscrew it and the barrel and forend come off.

I appreciate all of the responses. I found 2 short videos but neither showed how to break it down. I was surprised at how well it shot. Not much rifling in the barrel. Idk if that’s normal, if it’s leaded bad, or about shot out. Regardless, it shoots pretty good. It ejects the cases very good. I can’t wait to shoot it from a rest and see what it is capable of.

A good cleaning would help. Open the action, unscrew the screw, take the barrel out. Easy peasy

I absolutely love those guns. I fell in love with a Stevens Crackshot a customer owned that was chambered in 25 Stevens. I made him a handful of reloadable cases for it using 22 blanks and then made a centerfire breech and 32acp barrel for it so he could switch it up. It was stupid accurate. I wish the 25 Stevens was easy to aquire. Supposedly it was pretty accurate and popular back in its day. Ammo hasn't been made since 1949 iirc.

I thought about relining when I looked down the barrel. But judging by the way it shot I don’t think it needs it now. I’ll probably clean the barrel some and see what happens.

Yeah, I may do that next week when I’m on Spring Break. If I get through my other to-do list.

Friend in HS has a crackshot in 22LR, and I have always wanted one ever since. It was insanely fun to shoot, and stupid quiet with CB caps and Aguila SSS rounds.

That’s because back in the day you could get multiple barrels for the same frame including shotgun barrels.
