Here's a partial list of drugs missing from the evidence locker
Methamphetamine - 216 grams
Cocaine - 1.5 grams
Oxycodone pills - 67
Adderall pills - 4
Heroin - 0.5 grams
Clonazepam pills - 4
Gabapentin pills - 39
Tizanidine (muscle relaxer) - 5
Methocarbamol (muscle relaxer) - 5
Suboxone strip - 1
Firearms - One .25 caliber handgun
King noted, however, that these numbers are only based on the "item description" on each evidence envelope, several of which were not fully filled out. Further items of unknown weight are missing.
Additionally, 30 undocumented firearms were discovered.
Not too mention, a dispatcher died, on duty, of a drug overdose and security footage showed him "breaking in" to the unsecured evidence locker.
The chief, 4 officers and one of their wives were all arrested a week or so ago, and yesterday the rest of the force were all suspended.
"There is a rampant culture of corruption in the Hanceville Police Department, which has recently operated as more of a criminal enterprise than a law enforcement agency," read court documents obtained by WVTM 13.

And that’s JUST what they KNOW (or are reporting) that is missing from the locker. What ended up in rubber gloves and slipped into the officers pockets will never be known.
Aside from the obvious issues of unbridled corruption, EVERY person who’s been arrested and convicted by that department just won the inmate lottery. Lots of folks are going to get charges dropped, convictions overturned, etc. As they SHOULD be.
Of course, all on the taxpayers dime.

The state Attorney General has already said that most, if not all, of the cases will probably be thrown out

The VAST majority of LE folks are decent people but every once in a while you get THIS. In Montgomery NY the entire police department was fired and several people prosecuted. They found a bunch of the double dipping as cops AND county sheriffs during the same shifts, and the brass knew it.
In Southport, NC they arrested most of the brass and shut down the whole department because of endemic corruption. It was a total poop. The State police had to take over overnight.

That was done in Waldo Florida years back. The entire city was called a speed trap. The AAA labeled it that way for the amount of speeding tickets were issued. Eventually they were sued and lost. The police and city council were fired, I believe.
