Interesting Powder Flask.

Post by T'owd Mon »

It's been a while since I posted anything and intend to get some more bits about guns etc. from my collection. I thought I would post this thast I found last week. A rather nice powder flask; modern, but interesting. It appears to have possible been a prize at some shoot. Maybe hard to read in the picture but the inscription reads: 8th. WORLD INTERNATIONAL MUZZLE LOADING CHAMPIONSHIP. WASHINGTON D.C. U.S.A. 1980.

It's surprising what turns up here in England that has come from the U.S. I bought it off a general dealer at the last Arms Fair I went to. Some really good stuff and was tempted by a single barrel 4 bore wildfowling gun. He just wanted a bit too much but may be open to a deal. I know that particular dealer having traded with him before. It is mainly military stuff so sporting items generally go for a little less as the dealers just want to pass them on. I have had some great bargains in the past. I have also bought an old Gamekeeper's alarm gun from a local dealer but I just need to collect it. I will feature it when I get hold of it.

It’s interesting to me that there seems to be a stream of gun related items that make it across the ocean. A while back I bought an interesting old Colt revolver from the early 1900s that had quite a few notches cut into the grip. After finding out that keeping a .41 Colt in ammo was a difficult endeavor I decided to move it on and it was picked up on GunBroker at quite a premium by an exporter who told me it was going to a wealthy collector in the UK.

That is cool! Glad to see you back Mike, I hope all is well in your world. You have some of the most interesting firearms in your collection. I've seen quite a few through the years. Bring some of them here, we're all gun nuts. I'm having problems with my new phone but as soon as I can I'll post a Stevens Little Scout manufactured between 1906 and 1911.
