Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
Gamo break bbl .22.
Broke the junk scope that it came with. Not surprised.
Second attempt (with a third ring) still crept back back.
Going to try this. Just has to be minute of ground squirrel at 30 yds.

1”/30MM rings?

Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
They have "liners/inserts" to take up the extra space
For mounting...
I'd try this mount
https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/scope- ... pter-rail/
and a set of Burris Signature ZEE rings.
Possibly the "inserts" to go from 30mm to 1" will serve the same purpose
I've never had a scope slip in them, even on things like my 45-70 contender bbl or my 50 Beowulf AR.
I would be VERY meticulous to make sure to remove all the oil from the 11mm groove, the rings and the scope.
The "reverse recoil" of spring piston airguns is why the like to eat scopes, so I'd be making sure to use a designated airgun scope

Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
Just read the reviews on Amazon for the mount and it looks like a lot people aren't happy with them 36% 5 star and 22% 1 star.
I'm more of a "buy once, cry once" sort of person, so I'd look for something built a little better, personally

Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
I'm mostly interested in the spring . . . gimmick?
I read that they're sloppily machined. There's YouTube's on how some disassembly, cleanup, lube and loctite (and maybe a shim made from a drinking straw) makes them more prone to reliably return to zero.
I bought the Gamo for $150 just to pop prairie dogs in my back yard. The scope that came with it lasted about 200 shots before it "self disassembled". I installed a second with alcohol, blue loctite and a FAT wrench. The scope hasn't moved in the rings but the 2 rings where they clamp to the rail were sneaking rearward.
I bought another scope just to put a 3rd ring on the existing scope. Now all 3 slide rearward.
Anyhow, I figured for under $20, I'd give this a try. Maybe putting the mass of the rings and scope on a spring so they don't get the impulse all at once might save the scope and put a little less stress on the mount. Plus this mount has the "lock pin in the rear that may help also. It arrives Thursday so I'll fart around with it see what happens.
Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
My Gamo came with a "back stop" to put behind the rear ring. It has a polymer pad on the front to prevent metal to metal collision

Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
Well I got the pieces together. I began questioning the rail on on the gun. Turns out it is just an aluminum riser. They had to put it there when they added the 10 shot magazine thingy.
I took it and the previous scope off together. The new spring loaded mount is laying next to it. I can see why the mount got iffy reviews. They should have just sent a bag of parts. After cleaning and reassembly it's fairly "stiff". It also has a small pin that engages the hole in the top, rear of the receiver to stop it from sneaking rearward. I'll see how brave the prairie dogs are tomorrow.

Re: Scope Gadget for the Gamo.
Make sure you're using a scope specifically made for an airgun. Airguns recoil in the opposite direction of a cartridge gun so the scopes have to be made differently. A non-airgun scope come will come unglued in short order.
