But, I do recall something being said right after the pig was dispatched. Something along the lines of, “damn, that was loud.” Not a week after I proposed the idea of carrying mine suppressed for that exact job… But that was deemed unacceptable. Because knives…

It was loud. I was standing 6 feet away. I could tell…

Which is why I’ll have a holstered, suppressed P17 next time.

Oh yeah.. that was the one I shot in the throat. Because I was aiming for one of her babies and she turned right when I fired… but the P17 finished her off..

Well, since it was the one I shot in the throat, I’d go with watching the knife wielding.

Or, just shoot it in the noggin with a suppressed 22 and go on shooting pigs without anyone else knowing we were there..

Won't work on me, though I know I'm not the intended target. I have everything but a P17. I went with a S&W Victory instead
And haven't hunted with my POS thermal yet. It doesn't even have picture or video capability

I have a Victory also. Honestly, it’s just ok to me. Not really bad, but not good either. For one, the way I grip high on the gun, and having a target grip on it, my right thumb sometimes activates the safety during recoil between shots if I’m not actually thinking about keeping my thumb away from it. The trigger is ok, but nothing special.

But the biggest problem with mine in particular is the muzzle threading. They cut it JUUUST enough off such that the bullet barely rubs the right side of the end cap on my suppressor on exit. Which sends the rounds 3-4 feet left at 25 yards. While I’m sure I can send it back to Smith and have it fixed, the gun just isn’t interesting enough to me to spend the time messing with it.

As to a .22lr for defense……..we tested it on a live pig last year or before, at the request of Chris for his daughter. Inside of 5 yards, I put 3 in the chest of 3 different types of bullets. Fragmenting, HP, and RN. The pig ran around the holding pen and stood broadside again. Very unhappy and not feeling great. I waited a bit, and put 3 more in the chest. Pig ran again and stopped. I’d have to look at the video again for time lapse. But, don’t recall it being very fast. Eventually, it died.
My take? If you have a .22lr…………have lots of ammo and dump the mag as long as the threat still presents itself. If the threat is undetermined, you might get away with a few bad decision bugs. If it’s a determined threat………you better have a high capacity mag.
