Son of a bitch...when it rains it pours...

Well...I got the big surgery behind me...doing all the stuff I'm supposed to do...dropped 40 pounds, got my blood pressure under control...got an A1C of 5.3...going to cardiac rehab... currently doing 45 minutes on the treadmill at 3 mph a few times a week while I'm on a cardiac monitor...things are going really well...

So anyway...back on the 6th of May the wife and I went out to lunch to celebrate our 30th anniversary up in Manistee Mi (about an hour from the house over on the Lake Michigan shore). As we pulled into town all of a sudden...the words I was forming in my head were not what was coming out of my mouth...The wife and I are both old medics and immediately either a TIA or CVA popped into our heads...the only word I could get out that she could understand was "hospital"...

By the time Kelli got us to the ER (about 15 minutes) the episode was over and I was back to my normal self...stayed in the hospital for a day and a half...had a CAT scan and an MRI while they tried to figure out what the hell was going on...

Turned out I had, what was described as a "tiny stroke" in the speech center of my brain... Right now we're trying to figure out where the clot that caused this thing came from...they're postulating that it may be connected to the surgery I had back in February so I've got a cardiac monitor stuck to my chest for a couple of weeks...

ANYWAY...I'm ok as I can be at the moment...still doing all the stuff I'm supposed to do and living my best life...If you're inclined...please keep me in your prayers...Thanks much

I had one (numb face, arm, and leg on left side) 6 years ago with zero after effects. However......... long story short. Although I spent $1400 on two months of Cobra insurance. It cost me $18,000.

Doing fine right now....just got the report from my Cardiologist today that the monitor I wore for 14 days shows nothing abnormal...and that I should keep doing what I'm doing because it's working...

My Neurologist is treating the CVA as a blip and isn't particularly worried about it....

I'm just plodding along living my best life...Thanks for asking...
