Sending a couple of Rugers back for repair

Been shooting the blue SP-101 a bit, and got tired of the sticky extraction on factory loads. Finally called Ruger after doing some research online and finding that it’s a bit of a “known issue” with the .327s. So, when I was on the line with Ruger’s CS, I mentioned my Redhawk was having a weird issue with the trigger and hammer locking up periodically. The super nice Dude sent me a label, worked up two RMAs and had me ship them in. They are going to FedEx today, and we will see what is done and how fast.

Had to take off the Aftermarket grips off the Redhawk

My last Ruger work was there and back in just over a week! I figured they had it for a day and a half. It was a 44 special Blackhawk that was out of time. Perfect now. That said I just about went to war on fedex to get my revolver back. Note left at the door, went to the hub “oh it’s on the truck” truck gets there “it’s in the hub”. After a brief chat with the “manager” they found it…..

I just sent my MK II target back to them Friday, the trigger wouldn't reset. I hope they have a short turn around. I've had that gun for over 30 years.

I’ve needed to send my SBH Bisley in .480 Ruger back to them since I got it years ago. The loading gate opens when you shot, offsets, and doesn’t close all the way after each shot.

My MK II is over 30 years old, I shot it a lot and this is the first problem I've had. I have a Security Six, Single Six and 10-22, I've never had a problem with them.

The Redhawk made its way home yesterday. Ruger replaced the Hammer, cylinder, pawl and for some reason- the rear sight.

I have to say that this thing has a SWEET (for a ruger) trigger now. Very smooth DA with just a slight bump before the break where you can stage the trigger. I’ll try and get to the tangs next week and test it

The SP101 has not made it yet. Got an email that work has been completed, but no tracking yet

Bite the bullet and put in a Voquartsen kit. Ive done 2 MKII recently.

You get a fully adjustable takeup and overtravel and a very crisp and very consistent 2lb pull. The first was a 1997 vintage SS Target. The latest is a more recent slab side MKII now with a Lobos mount and Holosun 507K 2 MOA.

Had it to the range this morning and was not disappointed. Fine tuned the dot after bore sighting. Off hand @ 25yds it was superb.

I forgot to add the Voquartsen kit is probably less than round trip shipping and insurance. Includes trigger, disconnect, trigger spring,sear, sear spring, hammer, hammer bushing. Requires a 1/8 punch, screwdriver, needle nose pliers to position the sear spring. About 20 min job the first time less the next time. Dont drop the safety detent!

What exactly was wrong with your gun that they had to replace the cylinder? How do you even destroy a cylinder beyond repair? I think I would want to know what happened. Did they repair it under warranty?

I’m guessing the locking slots were out of spec.

The Redhawk was ‘locking up’ randomly. The trigger would freeze and you could not make anything move until you wiggled the cylinder
