Fox Problem

Post by LMLarsen »

We have a fox that’s claimed our deck as his in the wee hours. He’s been leaving scat right outside the door, and last night left half a bunny. Any ideas on chasing him off?

Every deterrent I’ve found will also affect our dog, and since it’s a suburban neighborhood I can’t use one of my .22s.

Trap, humane or otherwise. Your dog is small correct? Elevate the trap to a height that your dog won't try. Fox will if baited correctly.

Keep shovel handy for an early morning cleanup.

Live trap and some way to "unalive" the fox. If you catch your k9, you can release it unharmed.

Would that be on a full moon with a chipmunk in his hand for bait?

Update: I put an ultrasonic repellent device out back and so far, no more scat for the last few nights. Hopefully I gave the little bugger a headache.

Have you tried cayene pepper?

Seriously though. When we first moved to Florida, the neighborhood dogs liked to pee on the bushes by the front door. I spread some red pepper flakes aound it and the dogs got the hint.

So far the ultrasound is working. Or Bree Fox lost an argument with our local Cooper’s hawk. No sign left for a week now.
