So sad

May I suggest a double rifle as a new alternative

Though I thought a 45-70 buffalo 🐃 gun was planted at one time.
Doesn't someone on here have a 45-70 double rifle?
For some reason I think it’s bullsi?

For some reason I guess I should wait until I start getting paid again before I order them.

I’ve spent the last week playing with the open sights. I may need to scope this one. I can’t focus on the front sight anymore. Not enough to shoot accurately.

That was my problem! That's why my 99 wears a 2x7 Leupold. My last nostalgia hunt with my 94 Winchester ended poorly, I couldn't see clearly enough to take a 125 yard shot.

Consider yourself slapped upside your head for being such a fart smeller!

I mean smart feller ;)

I'm looking for Homer hitting his head saying DOH but I'm not that good on this thing, please insert!

If I wasn't on crutches right now I'd go upstairs, get my 99 out of the safe and show you what a classic looks like! Gloss scope, side counter and all!

Well, mine doesn’t have a side counter. And I don’t have a gloss scope. But, I’ll use what I have to get it done this season.

I get to take two axis does this fall. Plan is to take one with the M88 and one with the Savage 99.

Well, Glory Be!! My mentor just gave me a Leupold VX-II 2-7 with fine duplex that will fit perfectly on the rifle and not mess up the balance. Just need to order the base now.

Yeah. I really wanted a light gloss blue scope on this rifle. Told my mentor, he opened a drawer and handed me the perfect scope. Meant to be.

Yeah. When he opened the drawer and there were a bunch of gloss scopes, he grabbed the perfect one. Great minds think alike.

I think it will be appropriate. Just need to order a base and rings.

Well that’s going to be a great package! You may want to order a 3/8’s slot blank to fill the rear sight dovetail….

Yes. Perfect.

Now don’t replace the wood. It’s perfect as is.

I’m leaning that way for logistical purposes. Cost over form.

I want to leave the sights on it. For aesthetics. We will see you the Eye relief works out. May have to fudge a little.
