I think it will be appropriate. Just need to order a base and rings.
Yes. Perfect.

Now don’t replace the wood. It’s perfect as is.
I’m leaning that way for logistical purposes. Cost over form.
I think I prefer those savages with some “beauty marks”, honestly. Not beat to hell, but some honest use.

Now that is what I was talking about! Great score.

That is the same scope I have on mine, you will not have to remove the rear sight or modify the rifle in any way. The 33 mm bell keeps the scope low enough for a good cheek weld. I need to shimmy up the steps to get a picture of my 99 so you can see how great it looks. Change the stock if you must but it will function well the way it is. My stock was junk and I like the schnabel forend.

Here ya go. Sorry about the quality, I just threw the covers back on the bed and shot them. That was not fun, I can't put pressure on my left foot. I've been sleeping on the recliner for almost a week. The bedroom and safe are upstairs. I won't be going up there again any time soon, but anything for you Zee. I do have to thank you for getting me off my butt.

When I bought this gun I didn't have enough money to get the stock checkered so, I finished the inletting, finished the stock and let it go. This rifle is my go to and has seen 20 years of hard hunting. Any 99 I've seen that has been hunted with has the same receiver wear, that's where the balance point is and it's a joy to carry on steep hills and in brush.

I like that stock design better because of the thinner grip.

I was sitting here thinking about the mounts,. If I did it over again I'd use two piece mounts like Varmintmist did. Mine isn't hard to load but the lack of the bridge would be more convenient. I doubt accuracy will suffer, there not much recoil.

Mounts and scope came on the rifle. Its a 4x Weaver on a Redfield one piece mount. It will hold about an MOA and a halfish at 200 as a 300 Savage.

Metal is a bit cuffed. It was raising a nice crop of rust that sorta came away. And no, the three isnt wrong. Its standing by for a varmint.

I just hate those bases with the windage screw rear. I know pic rails aren’t period, but, that may be my only other option.

Can you get the clearance Clarence? I think getting one mounted that was functional might be a operation in machining. They work, and in my case, it was there.

The plan is to not have to remove the rear sight.

Rear is still on mine and it looks like the one in the link to. Just thinking that it may need relieved for loading and ejecting.

Well, I caved to more traditional. My LGS had a Leupold base and rings for a Savage 99. And I prefer the aesthetic look. As well as the cut out for loading. Even though I hate the rear ring windage screws. Such are concessions.

I will say, I am ecstatic with this rifle and how it turned out. Giddy like a school girl. The eye relief is a little long, but I have no more adjustment to move the scope to the rear. It will work. Just gotta crane my head a little forward.
All that’s left is to see if it will shoot.

That looks great! Get an offset front ring, it won't look bad. When I installed the stock on mine I had the same problem, I shortened the LOP.

Cut 4" off the stock.

Problem solved.

If I did that, I’m afraid the objective would touch the rear sight.
