This company makes repro buttplates for classic guns and the quality is fantastic, I've used them a few times. Here's the Winchester page.https://gungrip.com/winchesterbuttplate ... pcaps.aspx

Great read!
Ok brain trust, let’s come up with a solution. As you see from the pictures the bases are pretty far apart. With proper eye relief that scope has to be long!!!

You want a solution, or a period correct solution?

Period correct is to buy some over priced, fogged up, used old scope, one that’s longer than a whores dream.
The practical solution is to send me the mounts, the barrel measurements, and a chunk of pic rail that I’ll select. Then I’ll mill the rail and pop holes in it and you can use whatever scope you choose. It’ll cover over where the mounts are now, and use those holes.

Another solution that'll look "different" (read half-àssed) but work okay is to get 2 rail extensions and mount a scope to those. Not a pretty solution and will raise you up higher off the bore but it'll get you on the range sooner. It's amazing someone D&T'd all those holes and kept them all that spaced apart.
I still can't believe what you stole that for

I bet it was a gunsmith pet, it probably had some sort of Winchester “b” scope, unertl or something like that. Would make the hole spacing make sense.Justsomedude wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 3:35 am Another solution that'll look "different" (read half-àssed) but work okay is to get 2 rail extensions and mount a scope to those. I’m still in shock I got it for that too. Hell you can’t buy a good lever for what I paid!

Oh man! I has a dremmel tool and some files I’m gonna make it awesome!
Just kidding! This one begs to be done right if done at all
Re: 1885 low wall in 22 K Hornet.
Do a search for "Unertl mounts" and for "Unertl Posa mounts" and you'll get several options for both types. You'll have choices in hole spacing and height for the old external adjustment scopes.

YOU are going to have to stand on the stock to see through that scope
