Saw some yote tracks a couple days ago. Then, found this dead Button Buck by the yote tracks. Buddy and I went out calling last night and got a cat and a yote.

Absolutely crap weather, cool-ish, but drizzly with randomly shifting winds. But I’m back out hunting!

Kiddo is asleep in the nice chair in the blind.

That’s funny, because I had to shake him awake and throw his earmuffs at him. Then I fired from a weird contorted angle to the top of the dead live oak it was at the top of. The heel of the stock left a nice bruise on my neck.

But hell yes I was gonna shoot that thing no matter what

Back in the blind waiting for deer again. The weather has done a 180 and it’s now 75 degrees, sunny and a breeze from the south. We have the fan going in the blind and are sweating our asses off.

Hunting in central TX is interesting

It's "severe clear" and 65° here in west central Al

Saw a shadow moving in the wood line earlier, couldn't see the cause when I glassed the area though

I have to figure out if it's as funky as it looks especially from a tree stand.
Been thinking about it and it may very well be.
I initially thought there was an exit by it's left hand shoulder.
But a lot was going on trying to show him different things about gutting

I don't think it was that.
I know the deer saw him..
It was to his right and picked up his movement.
It was coming in going left to right.
I think when he shot it was changing direction trying to go back left.

They can’t all be big ones. Finishing out my bonus antlerless tag in the “alternative methods” season. Muzzle loaders or handguns only. I don’t make the stupid ass rules on what constitutes a handgun, so AR pistols meet the requirement. Which is the reason I built my .300.
100-ish yards, 130 grain Speer varmint bullet with a MV around 2000FOS . Did very well on the damage. Good enough the fancy Barnes I was using ain’t worth the extra. Now I don’t have the skin off to see exactly what was hit. But it did penetrate both sides.
