Cimarron (Uberti).

I took it out today for a hurried field test with my son. Smacking a 5 gallon bucket at 100 yards became boring swiftly, the factory sights are dead on!!! sooooo, there is a rock that I have ranged at just a hair over 300 yards which is basically man torso size.

I don’t have a good rear sight on it yet so it took 2 shots to range it and by putting the base of the front sight on the upper edge of the rear blade and literally just having my elbows supported by the Jeep smacking the rock over and over again was EASY!!!

My son is a good shot so that’s when we got silly. I took out one of my Uberti 7.5” 45 Colts and told him I was trying for the same rock and he said if you can hit it with any shot in your first cylinder I’ll buy you a Coke. Well I just finished my Diet Coke. Two ranging shots and smack. Then I did it again. That gun it’s stupid accurate. He tried it himself and he surprised himself by scoring a few good hits and everything else within “keep your head down” territory if we were being attacked.

I know some folks think our ancestors were someone poorly armed in the frontier. They were NOT!!!!! 😎

Already shopping…

And by the way this was shooting crap MSH ammo 🤣🤣🤣

My SIL started feeling sick last night and was running a fever so he was not able to load any BP rounds for us, so a quick pit stop at BassPro and I ran out with a few boxes of 45-70, .45 Colt and 44-40 so my son and I could go play with Cowboy guns.

Can wait to start reloading for both.

I'm stopping at BPS tomorrow to get a few cases of those for exactly that purpose. They make great pistol and rifle targets!

The BLM area where I like to go to has a ton of targets of opportunity left there by previous shooter. All the way from soda and paint cans to old 5 gallon buckets, coolers and every once in a while things like motel filing cabinets and suck. I can shoot in 180 degrees from bad breath distance to just under 400 yards from where I park my Jeep. SIL and I are planning on formalizing the targeting so we are accumulating a nice selection of steel. The only issue is whatever we set up we need to take down because if we leave it there it will be stolen. Hopefully next year I will have my own range again.

I think my list for next year includes a Sharps in 45-90, 45-110 or 45-120. I'm also getting another 1876 probably chambered in 50-95. And lastly the gun I've been lusting for a looooooooooong time, a Taylor 1886 "Fancy Rifle" in 45-70. MAYBE I'll bump into a replica Spencer and then I'm kind'a done with the cowboy guns I want.

Since Sakodude asked. Total a Christmas haul so far….

66 Yellowboy and the two ivory stocked SAs are chambered in 44-40. The blue New Vaquero 5.5” in .45 Colt, the Stainless 4.5 Old Vaquero in .357 Mag with checkered buffalo horn grips and the .36 BP revolver was basically thrown in when I picked up the 5” Schofield last month.

I also got a bunch of leather but I particularly like the matched set of San Pedro Saddlery of Tombstone, AZ double loop holsters with matching cartridge belt.

Lots of the first gen SASS shooters retiring from the game so I’ve bumped into a lot of good deals on great guns and leather.

PSA had some stupid cheap deals on some Turkish SAR pistols over the last week or so.

I’m a sucker for cheap beater guns, so… yeah. I did some stupid

SAR B6c and B6 (they use CZ-75 mags, so I have a stock of those), and the SAR9. The SAR9 has a really nice grip fit, and is surprisingly accurate.

As much as I love the CZ pattern guns… that SAR9 is pretty impressive. Especially when it was less than a High Point.

I’m going to try and get them all to the range in the next few days and do a comprehensive range report
