Ontario Knife Company closing its doors.

Post by Wambli Ska »

A lot of darn good popularly priced knives will not be made anymore. A company bought the remaining inventory but not the machinery or designs, and the factory is closing for good, so not likely to be revived. So if you’ve been wanting any of their knives it’s now or never.

Damn! That sucks. I really like some of their designs.

Unfortunate. If I remember correctly, the fixed blade survival knife I used to be issued was made by them. We recently switched to a Benchmade Triage though.

That sucks! I have many of their knives, and I consider their standard machette to be the best "affordable" option out there and own many of them. I would definately have been buying more of their products over time. Sad to see.

They were one of America’s oldest knife makers helping us out through every war for over 130 years. Their stuff is nearly indestructible and their updated designs of the classics like the Marine K-Bar and the Air Force survival knife were quality blades for well under the $100 range. Many an outdoorsman had an OKC as their first “good” knife. Sad…

I know Jayhawker speaks well of their very popular RAT knives

Well...I'm pissed, it goes without saying...I've got a lot of knives, but when there's work my RAT knives get it done...now I have to see if I can find a RAT 5 that I've been putting off because I knew the company that makes them will always be around...

Might want to jump on it. Lots of places are starting to show the RATs as out of stock. Amazon still has some but the word is starting to get around.

Really didn't need another folder but if I don't use it, I'll gift it.

Or it may become my EDC?

One more for the enablers!
