Rebated rim so it fits a larger volume case into their smaller/slimmer 6 lug action and a fast twist for heavier longer bullets? I’m keeping an open mind. It’s not the worst idea I’ve heard from an off the rack rifle manufacturer. And I like the .25 bore.

Kinda, sorta a .25/.284, which, yeah, effectively a .26-06 AI, ish.

I guess with the modern improvements to bullet construction that allow us to do more with less, this push to attempting to flatten trajectories and lower recoil is inevitable, and in the minds of the Millennial cell phone slaves, those of us clinging to our "over-sized" .30-06's are hopelessly out of date Fudds.

I just think it's cool that those same modern improvements to bullet construction have pretty much turned my .30-06 into a dangerous game rifle. I suppose I'll be pressing on.
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

Actually at this point I have 4-5 Commercial FN Mauser Actions (actually whole rifles) floating around, 3-4 in 30-06 (I forget) and one in .270. Only one is a sacred cow because it was my wife's grandfather's hunting gun and he took the only Moose he ever killed in New Foundland with that gun and I have a picture of him on that hunt with my wife's father who was only 17 at the time. The other's have become a nice but meh, set of potential projects and a I have a nice customer Winchester pre-64 Model 70 in 30-06 and that is really all the rifles in 30-06 I'll ever need. I think it might be cool to build a do it all set of twins in nice Walnut stocks on two of those actions. One in some form of new or newish .25 and one in a thumper like .35 Whelen. This cartridge, if it takes could be an interesting candidate.
