610 Mountain Gun update

Post by pardog »

I finally pulled the trigger on the 610 Mountain Gun. After reading everyone's posts I debated the velocity loss and overall practicality. I considered getting it in .44 but I already have a 629. Eventually, I decided it was just an itch that needed to be scratched. Just picked it up from the LGS and need to find time soon to break it in.

Excellent! looking forward to a range report. Have had an itch for a 10mm revolver for a long time tho I lean in favor of the 3" GP100.

Very cool gun, and I'm quite glad to see it lacking a Hillary Hole.

I have wanted a 610 for a long time, but I just couldnt justify the price point around my area.

I have a 6" GP100 that was a converted .357. 180gr at 1350-1375 fps with Blue Dot powder. Eventually I will play with some other powder options. I would imagine a 3" would result in some impressive fire balls.

Beautiful revolver!!!
I’ve often considered a 10mm revolver. Just haven’t been willing to accept the cylinder gap velocity loss.
But, everyone I know that has a 10mm revolver loves them.
I guess ignorance is bliss. 😁

Using the same load in my G40 with a 7" KKM barrel results in 1375-1400 fps. So 1" less barrel and a cylinder gap results in a loss of at most 50 fps. I should throw the stock.barrel back in the G40 and see what it does. For reference, a M&P 10mm with a 4.6" barrel is 1250fps with that same load.

That is a beauty! I will start shopping S&W new offerings now that they "quietly" stopped the damn locks!!!

Nice 38-40 WCF.

I like those grips. . .A LOT.

Very glad the Hillary Holes seem to be slowly disappearing. And while I have a soft spot for the appearance of the heavy-barrel K-frame duty guns of the '70's era, I'm also very glad that S&W seems to be realizing that their old tapered barrel profile gives you a revolver the way it is SUPPOSED to look.
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

A serenity prayer 🙏 was sent in your name.

Who knows the chronograph one eventually worked.
