Next time I'm around I'll have to break out my Caleb-tuned 625 and we can get all the extended family together.

There is a wonderful satisfaction in the metallic “thunk” when a moon clip slides home.
I wont argue against that statement.

I have two Rugers that "require" the use of moon clips. They function just fine without them. It would be amusing if someone offered a 10mm Auto Rim case though.
That would be cool! I emailed Ruger years back suggesting they make a 41 Ruger special. A 38special length shooting 180’s and 200’s a moderate velocity. They obviously haven’t acted yet. That in a lcr would be awesome
I've been toying with the idea of having one built on a a S&W K or I frame. Even had a short exploratory conversation about it with our in-house gunsmith. I love 180gr. loads in my .44 mag even the full house loads. It would be nice to have a mild mannered .41 in a slimmer package.

GP100 in 10mm is a nice setup. Mine is a conversion that started life as a .357. 180gr at 1350-1375 fps. I have yet to load up some 200gr cast bullets at very mild velocity though.

.41 mag feels almost as much of a handful as .44 mag (I have hands less than the ideal size for the grip on a 629 or Redhawk). .41 spl in a GP100 package would be a lot of fun I suspect.

Even a "hot" .45 ACP has to be riot at the range in that 625.

I love my .45ACP wheelguns. And I'm on the opposite From Bigslug- I'd rather do moonclips than Autorim rounds. AAMOF, I think I have half of my first and only box of .45Autorim still around somewhere. The whole allure of the .45ACP revolver is having "packetized" ammo.

Let's coordinate this so I can bring my Indiana Jones 1917 out to play.

Clips are great while at the range! BUT, After spending a bunch of time loading clips to fill a 50 cal ammo can and now having the same ammo can full of empty brass on clips and trying to find the time/energy to sit and de-clip them before reloading the brass.... I'm kind'a split on the issue...

Oh you SUCK. An Indiana Jones 1917 repro is HIGH on my grail list.

I'll throw in a case or two of 230gr hardball to fuel a meetup.

I’m not gonna lie. I’ve always actually wanted a JM S&W. Mostly in 9mm. But, I’d be happy with a .357 or .45 ACP.

I concur with others, no moon clips…what’s the point?

I still want a Ruger speed six or whatever model it was in 9mm

So, about moon clips. Or the lack there of.
The CAs don’t take moon clips. They chamber straight auto rounds. None of the ones I’ve tried will fire snake shot without locking up the cylinder and therefore, the gun. Until you can put it in a vice and beat the cylinder open.
Don’t know if moon clips do the same thing. Guess I need to try my Ruger with .45 ACP moon clips and see if it is an across the board issue.
Some may not see that as a problem. But, revolvers are ranch/woods guns for me. And, “Here be Dragons”. I like the snake shot option. Especially since I’m about to shed hunt and I’m already seeing 4” wide snake trails across the two tracks.

My 625 runs without moon clips and you can pull the empties out with your finger nail. Moon clips just aid in loading and unloading. I was doing a few practice drills and it’s not like running speed loaders. I keep my right hand in the firing position bit the latch and open the cylinder and drop in a clip with my left while closing the cylinder in the same motion. Almost as fast as a mag change… almost.

They work in autos, single shot. And straight wall. But, not in auto cartridge CAs.

Hmmm I wonder if I cut down a few 308’s make a “bullet” shape with case body for shot, and find a powder for a compressed load….. or just buy a few factory snake shot rpunds

CCI specifically says the 45 ACP shotshells are not to be used in revolvers
