This could go into Personal Defense given what the product was bought for, but it is a good general topic...
I used Midway's birthday pricing and free shipping to get some stuff for les expensive prices than I could get elsewhere. Among them, I got 3 new magazines for my 1911s. 8 rounders from a manufacturer who's got a decent reputation with features II prefer so I could try before I got more. As is my habit, I pulled the mags apart and cleaned them internally before I even loaded them. Some folks ask why I do this instead of going to the range, loading them, and trying them there. Well...
One mag, after being cleaned, was hard to load and would not feed. So I took it apart and started examining stuff. The follower wouldn't easily move in the mag tube with no spring. I examined it better and found...
The tab that's supposed to hit the slide stop is deformed. Factory mistake. It didn't show up at first look because...
With the mag assembled, it's not hitting the tube. Only way to tell is to put 2 or more actual or dummy rounds in the tube.

Sound advice! Haven't bumped into a problem like that with a new mag in forever, but no sense in getting complacent. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sending it out today, will see how it goes.
I will also reach out to the manufacturer and see what they think. Other than this issue, seems to be a quality magazine, but I am running on a sample size of 3.
