Sucker darn near shoots itself.
There is a bit of a SERIOUS rainbow effect at distance. That’s what I’ll work on next with the sight. May be a year.
I have a couple suppressors to acquire first.

My only advice is not to skimp on that sight. The beauty of a quality sight is that you can shoot it at 5,6,700 yards with proper elevation, reset it to 100 yard zero, then dial it back to long range using the right dope. It’s repeatable with no guessing, just know how many minuets your need to adjust. Good sights are made so each mark is MOA not just a random scale.

I agree. That’s why I think I should wait until next year. Get these other purchases out of the way.

That's one heck of a score. Those Remington 405gr bullets have been unobtainable as a component for a long time. I went with the Speer 400gr for a while since they were available.

Now I want to load up some .458 WM at .45-70 BP velocities.

Sound reasoning. That's a shooter and so are you, so the rifle deserves a really nice sight that won't just frustrate you.

SWEEE-EEEEE-EEEEET!

The good news is you don't seem to have a windage problem with the existing sights. I'm guessing you'll run out of elevation by 300 yards, but a lot of fun can be had with what you've got.

I think it was an article in the old Precision Shooting Magazine - somebody took photos of bullets recovered from under the bison-shaped steel at a long range BPCR silhouette match. The noses were flattened at about a 30-degree angle off the long axis.

Time for me to watch the two-men/one-shot scene in Quigley again. You just gotta love this stuff!
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

Reminds me of Linefinders observation that after a certain distance, some projectiles have the ballistic properties of a Craftsman toolbox.

It's a .458 so it starts with the ballistic properties of a brick.

Zee, I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but you have "the eye" for photography. Your photographs are just downright AMAZING!

I suck at most else.

Angle and perspective. Capitalize on both, and it’s just depth and exposure after that.

Yep - I know the words, but unlike you, I don't walk the walk. Your exposure and colors are fab too.
