Every fall my buddy and I try to head to south Texas or Hill Country for some type of exotic hunt. Over the last few years, we've gotten into Texas ram hunts. At my age, there not a super stressful or too taxing hunt on the body. Most hunts were stalks with shots from 80 to 150ish yards. Last fall I hunted with Double S Adventures out of Brady Texas. The guide told me they do a ton of kids hunts on rams for $600.00. Most rams have 3/4 to 7/8 curl. It's a day hunt and they had tons of rams. My son and I have already booked a hunt for this fall for our two grandsons ages 8 & 10. It will be there first real hunt they get to harvest a animal. This summer they'll learn how to shoot our suppressed 300 BO which they'll use for the hunt.

Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

I hear what you're saying. For the kids the suppressed 300 BO has virtually no recoil. Not to mention there are probably 50 to 60 young rams around the feeder area. I don't want a bullet that will blow through the ram and potentially hit another ram, if the shot placement wasn't good. We'll make sure the ram they choose is free and clear of the other rams. However, I know were dealing with young excited boys on there first hunt. Also, we won't be shooting suppressed rounds. We're shooting Hornady 135 gr FTX bullets. They do a number on our hogs, should be fine for 75lb ram.
Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

The Midnight, Snow Urials, Texas dall were all two year-olds. Most of the others in there two's and three's. I was told the painted desert was a 3 1/2 year old. Depending on the breeder, some two year-olds can be well over 30". My goal for all the rams was 30" or better. The Hybrid Ibex I was told was a four year old.

I'm 65 now.

My oldest brother has been a big bowhunter since the 70's. I have read most of the books and magazines he has saved over the years. I remember in one of Fred Bears books that he said his favorite meal was sheep ribs over an open fire. That I would like to try.
