One thing to consider... this guy got all of his gear legally in California. So, commonsense gun laws didn't prevent an assassination attempt.

Everything but the guns could have been gotten at a flea market or off Prime, cheap poop stuff. I believe both guns are on the CA "approved" list. And yes, common sense gun laws don't do ****...
Re: Shooting at the WHCD
Without saying much. I’ve worked with them a lot. There is a difference in the level of skill/training/ability between the “Uniformed”, “Suited”, and “Tactical” entities of the SS.
In this incident, you get a glimpse of all three. The first two are out front and window dressing, basically. They are the visual. The knuckle draggers are kept in the closet (LITERALLY), out of sight. Because they offend sensitive sensibilities. They are only allowed to come out when they “break glass in case of emergency”.
Personally, I prefer the porcupine effect. If you look like a porcupine. Act like a porcupine. Fight like a porcupine. Most won’t screw with you.

Keep in mind. Tactical thinking dudes don’t run the SS. Bureaucrats do.

This is true of a lot of government agencies, not just ones where folks are armed.

And yet, here we are. . .CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 2:31 pmBigslug wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 1:31 pm I think complacency has to be built into the defense mechanism, at least to a degree. You can't be razor sharp, all the time, day after day, when NOTHING happens, and all the sheep around you really are sheep. A thin perimeter tends to assume that perimeter is going to be airtight, and it won't be if it's made out of bored humans.
World War 1 had a lot of bored humans, but the perimeters were practically impenetrable because they had a lot of depth to them. If you have one sleepy slap-**** watching a stretch of barbed wire, the enemy will eventually sneak through. If you have ten slap-dicks watching the same stretch of wire, and have another ten slap-dicks randomly bombarding it with artillery, the enemy will have to get MUCH more creative.
It's not practical to weed out slap-dickery in such settings - - it needs to be integrated.
That is 100% complete bullcrap.
Complacent and guarding the most powerful people in the WORLD don’t go together in the same sentence, let alone the same dictionary. There’s zero room for complacency at the top level of high speed low drag operator types.
We aren’t talking about the lardass cops that the only thing they can outrun is a donut. Secret Service. Guarding the POTUS.

Just think of the stories from the past few years. Hookers, negligent discharges in airports, intruders in the White House undetected, deleting text messages, etc.....CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 2:31 pm

Funny, government agencies today are run like Global corporations in the 80s. We learned that that BS does not produce results and many companies from back then either changed or died, so the party has been over for a few decades. Unfortunately the government has no reason to learn since there is little/no accountability.jbp-ohio wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2026 10:00 pmJust think of the stories from the past few years. He was just testing the deputies response time in preparation for the upcoming detail, SOP.

Since nobody has mentioned it yet...what was the deal with the three, I think they were all females, that were hobnobbing up against the wall n the hallway that took off like a bunch of deer when the shooting started?

The Peter Principle is a management theory stating that in a hierarchy, employees tend to be promoted based on their success in current roles rather than capability for new, more complex roles, ultimately rising to their "level of incompetence". Once they reach this plateau, they fail to get promoted further and struggle in their roles.

They are from the TSA. They were there to help run the metal detectors. It is not their fault they look like idiots. It was up to the trained individuals to prevent this not them.

No I’m pretty sure looking like idiots it’s their own personal fault. I’ve had enough interactions with the mouth breathers at TSA to last me a lifetime…

Speaking of TSA, what a joke. Imagine how smooth brained you have to be to take a potential explosive (my effing bottled water) and throw it in the trash can that you'll stand next to for the rest of your shift, because ya know, it might be an explosive

All TSA knows to put all water bottles in the trash.Justsomedude wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2026 10:14 pm Speaking of TSA, what a joke. Ive had a couple dogs in the past that would be able to perform that task with an hour’s training.
Most TSA are TSA because they can’t do anything else. The pay is good for the skill level, they have uniforms which saves on laundry detergent, they get a federal retirement, they get to feel the power delaying air passengers, they get to collect a lot of pocket knives, and certainly get to take away passengers water bottles.
