Help Me Find a 1911 For Engraving

A close friend is finally tying the knot next year, and as his groomsmen we are all pooling some money together to take him snowboarding, and gift him a 1911.

The handgun will be lightly laser engraved, with some variant of name and momentos of his life thus far. Since this isn't fancy, hand done scrollwork, and the intent is for him to actually shoot it (he's a gun guy, he will). Additionally, the various groomsmen are on various budgets so we're trying to keep this a bit on the lower end cost wise. Let's say $1K or less for the gun.

The biggest thing I'm looking for is a 5" 1911 with minimal, if any, slide markings. Preferably with the usual modern "standard" touches such as beavertail grip safety, Novak style sights, etc. Optic ready is nice but not required.

I'm thinking something from the SA line, or even looking used, but SA still marks their slides where I would prefer to engrave them.
