Iceland
Iceland
Well, the wife dragged me off to another far away place. Four days in Reykjavik, Iceland, then a week on a cruise to Rotterdam, Netherlands. So far lots of beautiful scenery. Waterfalls, Glaciers, lava formations, Blue Lagoon to name a few. The weirdest part was wearing sunglasses at 10:30 at night. Sunset was 11:50 tonight
It is now 12:55 at night and no light needed. Don't think I could get used to this. View from hotel window
Sunrise is in 2 hours. I don't think there's much to hunt here except reindeer and a few birds, but only 3 hours a day you may not hunt this time of year.

Stopped in Iceland on the way to Ireland but didn't plan for a layover. Won't make that mistake on the next trip. Cool gift shop at the airport though

I'm pretty sheltered when it comes to traveling but the wife and I took our honeymoon in Alaska. The neatest thing was experiencing 24hrs of daylight.
Re: Iceland
I'd like to spend some time in Iceland, passed through there on our way home from Egypt/Sweden. The Reykjavik airport sucks, and so does Iceland-Air.

I can't speak for the airport. Customs immigration was a breeze. The country is beautiful and the people very nice. Iceland Air? I fly Delta almost exclusively although usually stand by. You never said, what were you doing in EBFE?

It is odd, wearing sunglasses late at nightJustsomedude wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2026 5:28 am I'm pretty sheltered when it comes to traveling but the wife and I took our honeymoon in Alaska. The neatest thing was experiencing 24hrs of daylight.

Any chance of a trip to the active volcano I know only as "Mount Unpronounceable"?
WWJMBD?
I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

I wear my sunglasses at night so I can keep track of the visions in my eyes.

Cool trip! Customs and immigration is getting better/faster all over the world. Just got back from Brazil today and entry into Brazil was swift and getting back into the USA is just a facial recognition thing if you use the app and have nothing to declare. Technology is finally catching up and It’s getting to be the same everywhere I go.
Safe travels!
Re: Iceland
Spent a couple of days there last year. Beautiful country and really nice people.
Re: Iceland
Global Entry and that other new program makes it easy. Delta even uses it for boarding instead of a boarding pass now. Iceland isn't the best for food except for lamb and soup, but they make some good beerWambli Ska wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2026 4:04 pmCool trip! Delta is always one step ahead in tech usage, they are by far my favorite airline, family connection asideDiver43 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2026 7:30 pmGlobal Entry and that other new program makes it easy. If you are still there check out the Thai restaurant near downtown. It's a nice change from the local cuisine and really good Asian food.
Re: Iceland
We were on Iceland Air because we didn't want to fly back to Dubai to get home from Sweden, plus we got that flight on points. We went to Egypt on a tour with a bunch of Belly Dancers, missed 1/3rd of the tour because we got King Tut's revenge and had to stay in Cairo while the rest of the tour moved on. We caught up with them in Luxor. After the official end of that tour, we had a car and driver arranged to take us to Siwa Oasis - which was fabulous.
Had a couple of "experiences" in the Luxor area temples, esp. the ones at Dendara which are sacred to this day.
P.S. - if it works out for your trip, fly Emirates. They are fabulous!
