Not knowing jack about mausers
Looks like an unscrubbed Yugoslavia one
Worth picking up for a someday thing for 100 ?
Probably would never get used by me.....but ?

Re: Mauser 1924 action
Action only, or do you have a matching bolt? That could make a cool hunting rifle. Shaw barrel, Boyds stock, cool caliber...

Yeah, what are we looking at?

Re: Mauser 1924 action
It Has the bolt basically a full unbarreled receiver.
Would need stock and barrel to put a gun together
I'm Probably going to avoid it. Unless it was too stupid a deal not to have around
In case some whim develops

Re: Mauser 1924 action
It is an intermediate-length Mauser Gewehr 98, what's not to like. I would buy it but I also have several 98 barrels.
Re: Mauser 1924 action
Repeat after me: I don't need a project. I Don't need a project. I DON'T need a project. I DON'T NEED a project. I DON'T NEED A PROJECT!
I want a project. What caliber?

Re: Mauser 1924 action
There’s a quirk to the Yugos, but I can remember what it is. But if you’ll just send me your bolt I’ll complete the action I have that’s missing the bolt.

Re: Mauser 1924 action
One of the quirks is that it’s unique to other Mausers. Can’t just grab a 98 bolt, it’s got to be a yugo.

Re: Mauser 1924 action
Not knowing much on them
Quirks are the scary part.
The bolt handle is bent down
So That's either a good thing or a bad thing.and I don't know
The answer.
I'm thinking the bolt is a different # than the receiver so again
A bit scary
I did just look over bolts and they alone seem to run over 100

Re: Mauser 1924 action
Numbers matching probably isn’t a concern if it’s gettin rebarreled.
Probably. Pretty sure it’s not.
It’s mainly that it’s just a creature unto itself. But if you have all the parts, you’re golden.

Re: Mauser 1924 action
It’s the way the bolt/barrel is interfaced, is the difference. Regular Mausers have a flat barrel face, yugo have a recessed face and extractor cut. Making it a much more involved gunsmithing project. Not hard, but more than just spinning a barrel on.

Re: Mauser 1924 action
Yeah I opened the can and bought a barreled yugo, minus trigger and bolt. And a couple other Mauser bolts and bits for like $125. Thought I was set till I learned what I had.JunkCollector wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 9:11 pm Thanks for the help CPJ
