redneck gun range

Post by Freezer »

You gentlemen have inspired me! I had built a couple target stands years ago and gave a few away. Well my nehpew and great nephew want to sight in some guns, have a shoot fest and then do a night hunt for vermin. Threaten me with a good time? I was happy to ablige. I decided to rebuild my stand, I had some 1/2 PVC I used as a blocking cage to keep my dog off my recliner after my surgery and the stars aligned. Some PVC, scrap plywood, baling wire and I thought it was complete. I took a picture and that's when it dawned on me, Ya cain't have redneck without duck tape (I know it's redneck), so "X" marks the spot. Go ahead and shoot the pipe, it's cheap easy to cut and I have extras. The broken part can be made into other pieces. Best of all it fits in a small duffel bag.

My mental math is computing that the distance between the centers of your hanging targets and the crossmembers below them is EXACTLY the amount of trigger slap and recoil anticipation my students will apply.

What can I say? I've SEEN things. . .

HORRRRRRIBLE THINGS!!!!
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

Aim low, jerk the trigger?

I used to do repair work in the City of Berkeley Police Department gun range.... ....All I can say is, "Babby I'm amazed!"

I like these because nothing is glued together. Each break into seven pieces and they all fit into a small duffel bag, a large outdoor chair bag, including spare bars and parts.

I was thinking about plywood and carpet as a backer for the bb guns! My grand daughter is 8 yo.

I have a 6" hole saw, I was thinking about cutting some 3/8 plywood circles, drill two holes into it and hang them. I could paint them white then make a spray paint jig for an orange bullseye and outer rings. That, or get peel and stick paper for the printer then cut them out. Shoot some groups then put another on. My target would fit in my bag. If I had access to steel I could make cool spinners. The possabilities are endless.

BTW it helps if to use the same type bottles. Drill a hole in the cap and insert the wire. When your done with one bottle insert another.

Looks fun
Bungee cords make good hangers too.

My son shoots bb guns a lot at home.
Anything heavy isn't as much fun or giving a nice report.
Empty plastic milk jugs or the aluminum beer cans in bottle shape work well.

I love it!

As my children grew I made wood stocks for a Red Rider bb gun for them, the plastic stocks had too much LOP. I had a BB gun back stop in the back yard, now that I have grand daughters my creative juices are beginning to flow again.

A good time was had by all. We shot 4 different bullpup bolt actions, my bench rifle, Tom's 6.5 PRC, 22 rifles including my BL22, my Ruger MKII Target, my XP100 and one I never fired before, Tom's S&W K 22 Target. I've seen a few through the years but never had a chance to fire one. It is sweet! The trigger is very smooth and crisp in SA and DA.

I carry spare parts in the duffle bag, bars Tees and elbows. I do need to add duck tape.

He and his father had a matching pair in consecutive serial numbers, his father sold his. Tom has never forgiven him for that.

I’ve been using realtor yard signs for target stands for the last few years. Easy to set up, and take a lot of abuse before being unusable.

It helps I have a family member that’s a realtor and can get them for free

You can get them free everywhere. They just leave them out in peoples yards!

Agree with Chris, free political signs and garage sale signs everywhere all the time! Especially when the knuckleheads don’t pick them up afterwards.

I got a bunch at our first house. Corner lot, asshats used to place for sale signs in my yard all the time. They never asked and always placed them in a bad spot for me for mowing around.
So, I had tons of signs.
