I would think it would work just as well. I'll stick with the same ammo I carry in my 48, thanks!Zee wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 1:21 amThe G19 killed a pig with that ammo. So, what…..a half inch shorter barrel? Can’t amount to much loss.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:11 pmOk, thanks! I think I’ll just run some over a Chronograph and see what happens. They shoot great out of every gun I run them through so if I don’t need to buy other stuff I’ll just stuff the mags for this gun with the same. Keep logistics simple.

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
Good score. I am eventually going to get off my duff and hunt down the G48 COA I want. I prefer the 48 over the 43X because it looks like someone left a G34 in the dryer too long.

First upgrade-Talon Grips. Get done for every centerfire Glock I own. Took a pic of the incoming EDC next to the outgoing EDC

Sounds like you own a lot of Glocks. Odd for someone who doesn’t like Glocks.

I don’t get the point of the 48. It’s what, an inch longer barrel is the only difference?

.50” longer. And yes, that’s it.
I didn’t like Glocks, now I do. The 48 had a slightly better sight radius than the 43X and I found it easier to shoot accurately…. Pre RDS.
Now RDS has negated the advantage of the 48 for me and the COA package sealed the deal.

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
While Glock 15 rounders are impossible to get Shield Arms is having a Labor Day sale on their 15 rounders for $22 each so after 2-3 years of flawless use, I already have a pile of their metal mags so I just ordered the combo 1 mag and metal mag catch because it was almost the same price as the mag catch by itself so why not. I put in my order and they had the stuff to me in 3 days (Fed-Ex 2 day delivery service). DAMN!
While I was at it I ordered the combo kit for my regular 43 which includes the metal mag catch and 3 NINE round mags for the 43!!! I think the 43 will come out of the safe and become my new again "going to get the mail" gun.

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
Absolutely true!
But in all fairness outside of the Model 44s (which at one point I owned 4 of), I have owned and ultimately rejected just about all standard size, long slides and compact Glocks. I WANTED to fall in love with them, and I just could not. It took them coming out with the 4X Series of pistols for me to find the Glock I liked and could shoot well pretty much out of the box. I will admit the first 43 was initially a bust, probably based on my preconceived perception what the gun would be like to shoot, but the 48 and 43X are superb guns that I took to in short order!
I have no clue what the latest generation of full sized guns like the 19, 45 etc is like and probably won't find out. The 43X COA is to ME the pinnacle of what an EDC Glock should be.
Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
The latest gen full size are just like the previous gen. It’s a Glock. What are you expecting?

That extra half inch would 100% be a deal breaker for me. I carry muzzle to junk, (appendix) and when I’m on my motorcycle things can get very uncomfortable if adjustments aren’t carefully made BEFORE sitting down.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2026 4:34 am.50” longer. And yes, that’s it.

You’ll only just hop right on the bike ONCE, without rearranging the furniture. Trapping a testicle betwixt and between the muzzle and the seat isn’t something you’d want to repeat. Extra length would only make it worse.

Yeah I feel you. I have gotten very good at hiking up my belt before any sudden sitting motions but this is the MAIN reason for the move to the 43X. Well that and the Aimpoint mounting milled into the slide itself.CPJ 2.0 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2026 11:19 pmThat extra half inch would 100% be a deal breaker for me. As someone who owns 4 full sized Glocks, with two of them set up basically identical to each other (granted, for a reason)... This is true.
Gen6 will represent a meaningful improvement to many users, but I have no issues with Gen5 personally.

I have no clue what Gen 6 is except I seem to remember it won’t be so easily convertible to full auto?

I've torn into and shot a couple at this point. . .Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 6:32 pm I have no clue what Gen 6 is except I seem to remember it won’t be so easily convertible to full auto?
They made the beavertail part of the frame instead of a pin-on and undercut the triggerguard. Between those, you get higher on the grip/lower on the bore axis. They also palm-swelled the grip, and textured the bit of grip right below the slide that hasn't been textured. I've only run the tiniest amount of side-by-side with a Gen 5 - my perception is they might be a tiny bit faster coming out of recoil because of these things.
They managed to scootch the trigger mechanism forward a little, shortening the overall reach a tad.
They re-sculpted the area in front of the takedown tabs to serve as recoil-recovery "gas pedals", if you're into that sort of thing. Front slide serrations are a little deeper and grippier.
They ditched the twin recoil spring system of the G4 and G5 and went back to the G19 recoil spring for everything. The twin springs were only really needed for the "dead horse" .40, and the old school is also significantly cheaper to replace. I like the 19-length dustcover for the G6 17 because you get a longer, sturdier recoil spring guide out of the deal.
They threw the old extractor plunger rod out the window and put the entire extractor system forward of where the Gen 5 had the potential for interference with a too-long optic mounting screw.
The non-COA Gen 6 optic mounting system is probably a real improvement. Longer screws courtesy of relocating the extractor guts. Jury still out on their polymer "crush washer" plate system, and I'm inclined to stick with C&H or similar plates that fill the gap in front of or behind the optic for sake of looks, but what they have should function well.
Yeah. . .they didn't do modular grip panels, rakish-looking slide serrations, or any of that "go fast" crap that I tend to see as new sheet metal and paint on a car made up of 100 year old features (which most of our modern pistols are). No ports, but with the low bore axis, not really necessary.
They're still making combat guns, not fashion statements.

Re: Happy Early Birthday to me…
43X vs 48: I went 48 because I knew that a light was getting mounted and never coming off. The Streamlight TLR-7 Sub doesn't extend beyond the muzzle of the 48. Given that the light is staying and I have no inclination to ever become thin enough for comfy appendix carry, the reduction of length with the 43 warn't my thang. YMMV.
