Our new blind.

Post by CPJ 2.0 »

It’s umm, like nothing you, or anyone else has ever seen. 🤣

We assume it’s an old fiberglass underground tank that was cut in half. Buddy of mine inherited it from his FIL. he said he had it, said it was big. I didn’t realize HOW EFFING BIG. Lifting it requires a tractor and a front end loader.

We hacked together a frame from recycled materials. Sprinkler pipe, random metal, a dodge wheel, ford wheel, ford rear end. It was kinda sketchy getting it sat on the frame, but no one died. It wasn’t supposed to be that high off the ground, but due to some communication issues betwixt us, it ended up higher than it needed to be. Not a bad thing, just wasn’t planned.

He’s a retired coworker, getting older. So we are making things old fart friendly. Told him I’d drive him to the blind, help him inside. Just wasn’t holding his willy when he needs to piss. Seeing folks get older as I’m…getting older….isnt really something that I am enjoying. But such is this season of life. Make the best of it whilst you’re on this side of the grass.

8 feet in diameter, probably 7 foot tall or better inside.

That’s how we hauled it to the hunting spot. It’s a process to get it set up. Won’t be as bad next time, we’ve got all the brackets in place now.

Will it hold heat during hunting season?

That’ll work.

I like it!

A "Little Buddy" heater, 20 lb propane tank. small one burner stove and you have it made for the season. The problem I have with office chairs is, they are comfortable and I snore.

May I suggest? As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate this in my blinds.

Better than a nylon one. 😬

It’s probably 1/2” thick fiberglass on the roof. Maybe more. It’ll hold it good enough with a propane heater installed.

Yeah I’m all about the torlets. Haven’t got that far yet. Just had to get it roughly in place. Where we have it isn’t where it will live, but where it will live still has soybeans planted. Nice they harvest we will move it.

Don't paint anything around that car. You can get overspray through that car cover. As I found out when my brother rattle canned his bow next to my freshly painted Mustang.

May a suggest an upgrade to the blind. Done in secret of course.

Trust me. Nothing gets painted remotely close to it. It’s had 2000-ish miles put on it in 20 years. Which is sad. It’s too nice to drive.

I feel the opposite it would be sad if it wasn't driven and enjoyed.

It’s zero good, in my opinion. I’d never own anything that nice, even if I was able to afford it. Any scratch or chip would SUCK. Give me something I can flog the poop out of and drive the wheels off.

The High back office chair I use in my blind is REALLY nice to sleep in. Hell, I have slept in my blind overnight a few times.

Blind looks great! (selfie not so much)
But, ultimate test is, is it ladybug proof?
Seriously though, the effort put forth in taking care of the old farts is a great thing. Well done Sir!

The large amount of dead lady bugs and dead wasps suggest it is not bug proof.

By underground tank, do you mean septic tank? If so, that should hide your scent :D

Should work!
I was always just too lazy to build a blind
Climbed trees to deer hunt
Hid in the brush to turkey hunt
Sometimes just squatted duck blinds on weekday mornings
