I just learned something stupid about Maryland. A customer brought in an AR upper for me to put on an H-BAR stamped barrel. He said you can't own an AR if it doesn't have an H-BAR stamped barrel. I didnt really believe him so I looked it up. He wasn't lying. The weird thing is that they dont give specifics or required dimensions, just that it has to be stamped as such

Next project is an H-BAR barrel stamp? to legalizeJustsomedude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2026 7:06 pm I just learned something stupid about Maryland. I told him that I could have done that, and legally too. There's nothing in their state law saying thats not an option, but he already had the barrel purchased.Japhy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2026 12:16 amNext project is an H-BAR barrel stamp? to legalizeJustsomedude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2026 7:06 pm I just learned something stupid about Maryland. Let's see. We have cat trees, fluffy cat beds, boxes (in basement) with soft blankets, blankets on the couches.
So...... the best place to nap is obviously on the Walmart shipping paper.

This is Mr Leroy Jenkins. Tiny panther. Saw him chilling under my truck, and as with all cats and dogs that visit he was offered food and water. Half cool, half Satan. Little bit skittish, but he’s a stray so that’s to be expected. He will give head bumps and soft meows.
Then he hisses and shows his teeth.

He hasn’t bit me, (yet) mainly just hissed. He did do the flippy flops, showing me his belly. Inviting me. I knew it was a trap. But I did it anyway.
It was indeed, a trap.

This is the look of a cat that says “yeah, this’ll do. Now bring me my food! I live here! I EXPECT SERVICE!”

Cat pics? I can do cat pics!
Geiger!
Was at the vet picking up meds for one of the other cats when this guy pawed at me from inside the "rescue kitten display" cage. Pulled him out and he immediately flipped himself over into "baby mode" in my arms, which he still does 7 years later. A deaf customer was coming in to look at him and his deaf sister, but declined. The vet called me back and my wife & I went back and grabbed them both.
Porter!
He's gray, so I named him after a Confederate general of artillery. This is one of his kitten pics. He & Geiger WILL let you do the belly rubs - it seems like about 30-50% won't. When he was a tiny backyard rescue, he managed to get himself stuck behind a fully loaded bookcase, which resulted in a fair bit of stress to safely extract him from. Told him he needed to get big so that couldn't happen again. He's a 20-pound moose now.

Lucky (100% indoors)
And Snowflake, who showed up one day, and wouldn't leave. After a week, we finally fed her and she became a super affectionate pet.
She looks like and has the coat of a Turkish Angora. She spends roughly 90-95% of the time outside. I've also taught "Flake to play "prairie dog" for treats. She stands up on her hind legs and gets it. If she touches me with her front paws, she doesn't get it

Here's what AI says after evaluating a couple of more pics
While a mix-breed Domestic Longhair can occasionally replicate this exact look through random genetics, this cat possesses almost every major visual hallmark of a true Turkish Angora.

The deaf sister Marie in what I refer to as "Full Loaf Mode". The vet staff we adopted her from probably named her for the Disney Aristocats character, but since she has cobalt, radioactive blue eyes, we went with Marie Curie.
Her brother has similarly tritium, radioactive green eyes, so we named him after Hans Geiger - of Geiger counter fame.
Buntaro, named after one of the consummate samurai warriors - though kind of a douchebag - from James Clavell's Shogun. The neighborhood has something of a pet abandonment problem; wife and I have done what we can in teaming up with one of the local human organizations to adopt out the kittens and friendlies, and Trap/Neuter/Release the ferals. Bun-Boy here started out as one of the ferals, but has since gotten friendly. I expect he'll probably move inside someday, but in the meantime, lives large with a nice bed inside our greenhouse. He's a good kid.

I donate cash and my employer donates supplies (they aren’t aware of that fact however
) to our local cat rescue. I’ve been wanting to volunteer, but I can’t promise I won’t have to work or…something. Don’t want them counting on me and me not being able to be there.

This is Charlie, he was about 5 weeks old when someone dumped him off. He will be eleven this November.

To counter the cat pictures…
Cute right? And not a posed picture, that is her Teddy and she carries it everywhere she goes in the house.
Anyway, intended to LOOK cute but nope… This IS a trap. She’s a Cattle Dog, pet her at your own peril.
I was already in bed when SHE decided this is where she’s sleeping tonight.

The person my stepson and his wife got their Australian from warned them about the nipping. They taught her to pick up a toy to 'show' to strangers so her mouth is full.
